Swill

Hi all!

Hope I do this right. China here. Just wanted to let you know that Will came through surgery today with flying colors! The surgeon was really happy with how things turned out and his nurse today in CVICU was really impressed with how well Will was doing afterwards. Said he had never had a patient that did not need some kind of medication after surgery for blood pressure and stuff, but the only thing they gave Will was morphin. His vitals were excellent! He had his surgery this morning at 7am, cracking jokes on the way. By 5:30 they had the tube out of his throat (he said that was the worst) and he was sitting up, cracking more jokes. He looks great, none of the swelling that they said would happen and his color looks great. He is doing so well, that they might even move him out of ICU tomorrow afternoon and that he might get to go home by Monday! Now I just have to keep him for going overboard! I do have to say that I am soooooo impressed with the care and wonderful kindness that we have been treated with at Kaiser, San Francisco. What a great group of people! I knew that we were in the best hands and that took a great weight off our shoulders! I know that you would want technical info, but I didn't have a list of questions to ask, so I can't tell you more than he got a mechanical valve (a large one according to the surgeon) and that he did incredibley well on his first breathing test - a 2500 - whatever that means.

Anyway, I am very punchy after being up for so many hours so I will call it a night. Thank you all for your support - you have all helped Will so much! Take care and I will keep checking in!

OUTSTANDING!

OUTSTANDING!

China, thanks for getting on so soon to give us this GREAT news! Please pass along our best and let him know we're all thinking about him. Sounds like he had a great procedure with minimal bumps. Thanks again for the update :D :D

Hi China-

This is just the greatest news! Will has done fabulously well. But then his friends here never doubted that he would, for one moment.

Big congratulations to him and to you. Now for some healing and rest.

Send him my best wishes.

Yahoo!

I'm so happy for the both of you. It sounds like a text book case where everything falls right into place. Tell him I said to do what he needs to do and get home so I can pick on him some more.

Between you and me, I'm still praying for the both of you. ;)

Congratulations to Will - and to you for standing by. It is important, you know, that you are there with him. You have my prayers - thanks for letting us know. We need to, you know. God bless

Hello China.....

THANK YOU AND WELCOME TO THIS LIST. We're so glad to hear Will is doing so very well. Please send him our regards and let him know our prayers are with him till he walks through the door of his house on Sunday or Monday.

You take care of yourself. Having been where you've been, I know the crash when you find out everything is ok.....you find you're exhausted. Take good care of you, too, because you'll be back on duty when he gets home.

Please give him our best and make sure he follows the rule: WALK WALK WALK, BREATHE BREATHE BREATHE, NAP NAP NAP.

Be well.

Evelyn and Tyce

Thank you China! For those of us who haven't had this surgery yet, it is terrifying, but it's very encouraging to hear that Swill is doing so well. I look forward to hearing more news about his recovery! I'm impressed at how strong he is.

China and Will,

To echo Anne-Marie, your post gives those of us in the "waiting room" (and rapidly approaching getting kicked out) great relief. Congrats to both of you.
