Hi all!
Hope I do this right. China here. Just wanted to let you know that Will came through surgery today with flying colors! The surgeon was really happy with how things turned out and his nurse today in CVICU was really impressed with how well Will was doing afterwards. Said he had never had a patient that did not need some kind of medication after surgery for blood pressure and stuff, but the only thing they gave Will was morphin. His vitals were excellent! He had his surgery this morning at 7am, cracking jokes on the way. By 5:30 they had the tube out of his throat (he said that was the worst) and he was sitting up, cracking more jokes. He looks great, none of the swelling that they said would happen and his color looks great. He is doing so well, that they might even move him out of ICU tomorrow afternoon and that he might get to go home by Monday! Now I just have to keep him for going overboard! I do have to say that I am soooooo impressed with the care and wonderful kindness that we have been treated with at Kaiser, San Francisco. What a great group of people! I knew that we were in the best hands and that took a great weight off our shoulders! I know that you would want technical info, but I didn't have a list of questions to ask, so I can't tell you more than he got a mechanical valve (a large one according to the surgeon) and that he did incredibley well on his first breathing test - a 2500 - whatever that means.
Anyway, I am very punchy after being up for so many hours so I will call it a night. Thank you all for your support - you have all helped Will so much! Take care and I will keep checking in!
