Hi Y'all
My wife and I found you all back in late August where we learned that I was in need of AVR surgery. It was really impressive how everyone wanted to pitch in and help educate and support my upcoming AVR surgery. Since then, I had my surgery on 9/14/09 and I am well on my way to recovery. I try to make myself walk every day an average close to two miles a day. But the best news is it feels GREAT to be almost back to normal.
I choose to have a tissue vlave rather than mechianical (23 mm Edwards Magna Bovine valve) which is working well. I was released to come home from the hospital ( MGH ) on day six which was two days after my scheduled release. My original date was delayed as I developed AFIB which I guess from what I was told can happen and is usually temporary for about a couple of months and was put on coumadin for 90 days. I have been doing pretty well with that, as I have not had an AFIB experience for three weeks now and hopefully gone for good.
All and all I am feeling great!! I can not tell you how much we THANK YOU all of you who came to our rescue and educated and helped us get through my valve decision and the whole AVR OHS exeprience.

Seadog & Waggily Tail

Special Thanks to JKm7

Seadog, It is always good to hear that someone is doing well. My AVR was a week after yours with the same valve. 23mm appears to be the most commonly used size for the Magna. I hope things continue to go smoothly.

Thanks for your post & well wish I hope your recovery is also going well!!!
