I've been told to keep an eye on my ankles for edema.
I've had some swelling on occasion but I wouldn't call it significant

Lately I've had a weird feeling under my foot. Just below the toes. It feels funny mostly when I'm walking on it. At first I thought I had some callous. But it doesn't seem to be that. The feeling came about a week ago and is still driving me nuts. Did anyone have any experience with swelling in their feet and was the bottom of your foot affected? I'm wondering if this could be related to edema.

No Comadin as yet.
I have MVP with severe regurgiation. I still haven't had surgery since my doctor feels I can wait and continue to be montitored.
I know cold hands and feet are one of the side affects of my medications.

Swelling

Hi Nancy,

I have very bad swelling of my hands and feet. I'm on Demadex 5mg and a potassium supplement. After a long day at work, my feet ache; But I don't have any particular complaints on the bottom of my foot. Mention this to your doctor, maybe he could help you. Feel Better and Take Care.

Foot pain

Hi, I had a Ross procedure on 2/26/02 and before I came home 6 days later I had over 20lbs of water weight on. I have been on heavy lasix to reduce is 80mg a day. I had a tingle sensation on the bottom of my feet. Now that the water weight is almost off, it has gone away.

It is always good to check with your doctor.

Hi Nancy,
Hmmmm, never had that particular experience, but I always say, "When in doubt, call your cardio." What is insignificant swelling? A little bit? Do you weigh yourself first thing every morning wearing little or nothing? I take 160 mg. Lasix daily and still will experience some edema. Did they mention anything to you about swelling in your abdomen? That is a favorite place for edema to go with us mitral folks.

Take care,
Zazzy

I do weigh myself frequently. I have been gaining weight gradually over the last year and a half. I do have days my abdomen is bloated but I'm not sure if its heart related. I did show him my ankles last visit which was about 8 weeks ago and I have an upcoming apppointment in a few weeks. He didn't seem concerned. I will call him if things get worse.

Hi Nancy,

I think you should call him and let him know what is going on. There are other possibilities that need to be ruled out, and your doctor will know how best to do this.

For example, Diabetes will cause fluid buildup in the legs, feet and ankles. A good friend of mine just had that happen to him 2 weeks ago, He couldn't even put his shoes on.

Anyway, make a phone call and let your doctor know.

Hi Nancy

Hope you get to the bottom of your concerns soon. Have you been short of breath along with your swelling and bloating? The symptoms you mentioned can be expected when your valve is defective.

Personaly, I was regurgitating to a 4+ and did not have one noticeable symptom. Others have small defects are feel more. This is something I have yet to understand.

Take care
PS. On the "gradual weight gain". Have they put you medication, i.e, maybe a beta blocker or something similar since your gain?

Around the time I had my TIA and was in the hospital I had recently been dieting and lost approx 25 lbs. I'm 5'5" and was around 130 lbs. I slowly gained back approx 15 pounds. Over the last 18 months. It took me 6 months to lose that 25 lbs.
I'm not short of breath. I am fatigued. I tend to have more energy in the mornings. My husband says my favorite passtime is sleeping. I do my own food shopping. I've been exercising on and off for the past year or so. I had a set back when I fractured my wrist over the summer.
I'm just not feeling too good for the past week.
I think I'll call the doctor tomorrow I know hes in and I just switched insurance and don't need a referral

Hi Nancy-

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I think going to the doctor is the best thing. I hope everything works out.

Please let us know. Good luck.
