Just got the results from my last EKG. I was shocked ! Can anyone tell me what all this means?

"Sinus bradycardia at a rate of 54 bpm with a right bundle branch block, left axis fascicular block and bifascicular block, possible left infarct, age undetermined."

Thanks,
Carla

Bradycardia is a slow heart rate. As you may have gathered from your results. Would assume this would be related to your "bundle branch block" which is a an issue with the conduction system. i.e. your natural pacemaker.

Do you take meds to control your heart rate Carla? If so....I would suggest going over them with your card ASAP. Be aware of faintness and dizzy spells. And above all discuss these results with your card. If it is mild...you probably will not need a pacer. If your card suggests a pacer...I would get a second opinion with a electrophysiolgist (sp?). They are experts in the area of conduction.

Hi Carla

Hi Carla

Glad to see you posting..I'm sure others will be along to help sort out your EKG..My question..Do you have a follow appointment with your Cardio? he should be the one to explain it.....I have mine once a year (EKG) and then a follow -up with Cardio a few weeks later..How did you obtain your EKG?..Hope you have been doing well. .....Son is still with the Lawrenceville Police Dept..Bonnie

Thanks for the replies. This last year has been a real challenge for me. I have been having a hard time with asthmatic bronchitis and have been going in and out of A Fib. I have spent about 40 days in the hospital and have had more visits to the cardiologist than I can count. I finally broke down and made an appointment with the cardiologist that made my initial diagnosis 11 years ago. I saw him and he put me on Rythmol to help with the A Fib. The other problems I just have not had the time to ask about. He did say that ablation is far too dangerous for me. He also said that we are going to be looking at a Pacemaker. The first thing he wanted to do was to cut back on some of the meds I was taking. I had been on Diltiaz 300mg, Atenolol 150mg, Digitek .125 mg, Jantoven and HCTZ. I am now on Diltiaz 240mg, Atenolol 50mg, no Digitek, Janotoven and HCTZ. I feel much much better and I am much more alert. I got a copy of the EKG from my PCP records. I will ask my new doc on my next appointment, but I thought I would ge a little pro-active so I could follow him a little better.

Thanks again for your replies, it is so nice to know you folks are here.

Carla
