plb - daughter

This is Pennys' youngest daughter reporting for her. The surgery went well and took about 4 & 1/2 hours. 7:30 - 11:00 am. At 12 we were able to see her in ICU. While the nurse was explaining all of the different IV's that she was hooked up to, were were surprised to see my mom opening her eyes slightly! She was even able to squeeze our hands and shake her head yes or no!! She definately knew we were there. She looked puffy and a little pale. Normal things. We were in and out most of the day as she was drowsey. She did not like the breathing tube very much and was able to have that taken out at 5pm. After that she was talking very well and lifting her arms a little. They are planning on taking out the chest tubes and a few more things tomorrow and letting her Walk! to her room on the floor. Thanks for all of your support and words of encouragement. My mom appreciated it very much.

That is just the greatest news! Congratulations to your mother and the whole family.

Thanks for letting us know.

Great news! It sounds as if everything is off to a normal start and running just fine. Please keep us posted as time allows. :)

Hey Penny's daughter - we thank you for letting us know about your mom. Sounds like she had a very successful trek up and over the mountain to the good side. Hope she didn't encounter the truck that hit most of us on the way. Tell her we are thinking of and praying for her quick recovery. God bless

I'm so happy for your Mom. My surgery is 2 days away and it makes me feel so much better to hear all the positives.

Hello

Many congrats on a successful surgery. So glad your mom is doing well. She will continue to get better every day. Please give her our regards and let her know that she is still in our prayers.

Hi plb - daughter!

So glad to hear mom's surgery went so well. She is in good hands, both at the hospital and here with her extended family at VR.com.

I especially appreciate hearing of surgeries that went so well, as I am still awaiting my own time.

Give her all our best wishes, and please keep us up to date until she can return on her own.

I'm another one who likes to hear how well everyone is doing. The post-op forum has become my favourite forum. It can be very encouraging. I really appreciate posts from family members and hearing things from their perspective.

I'm so glad to hear things are going well! Thank you for posting :)

Great news

Great news

You will see a dramatic difference is the way your mom looks right away. That is what amazed my family most was the difference a day makes. One day ashy grey the next day color starts to come back. My continued thoughts and prayers are with you all. Peggy
