here is my second walk in the hospital with the Cardiac Rehab people (Lauren and Dottie). They were great.

THAT'S IT!!!
It does look like your ready to slap someone......maybe the nurse with the smirk on her face?

But Oh how I can relate to an agitating nurse. Wouldn't you have loved to knock the wind out of their sails eh?

Laura,i remember my walk to get ice,i never took a walker or anything
just took off (thirst) was killing me,i darn near did a grand fall and my
legs felt like they wouldn't work and nurses caught me in time.
All i could think about was icewater.Talk about drugged (iwas)
Nice pic Laura.

I think I've found out why you're looking less than happy - the nurse to your far right has put the brake on the wheelchair and she's having a good laugh about it! LOL!

Joking aside, it's good to see you making progress Laura.

I get to feeling sorry for myself then I read about someone like you. I have had a 61 year run with my BAV. Here is a beautiful young lady who has endured 4 heart proceedures already. God bless you and get better, enjoy life.

Nice pic, but yeah, to do look a bit ticked. Was that day 3 after surgery? I think I've read that's when the pain is the worst.

That is an angry looking face for sure......I think that PT people get a kick out of what they put us through....They know that an OHS patient isn't exactly going to spin around and knock them in the teeth. ;)
Good pic.

Wow....does that photo bring back memories. They had me walking day two holding the back of the wheelchair, like you, but with FOUR drainage tube containers piled on the seat. Doesn't it amaze you all when you think about all we survive/conquer?!!

Ah man, that's no fair. You had a cheaters device and all I got was a leash.:)

They had to put my oxygen tank somewhere... I wasn't going to carry that around. It's on the back of the chair. The first time they took me for a walk... their were drainage tube containers sitting on the wheelchair.

Boy does that bring back memories. I really was ready to smack a couple of nurses myself. Even though I was a teenager at the time, and I don't mean on their behinds! :p

Just look back that short of a perod of time, between then & now, and ask yourself how do I feel now? What a difference huh?

Best wishes. :D

Luara, Thanks for sharing the pictures. It does bring back memories, no one took pictures of me in the hospital so I find it interesting to see yours. At only 3 days after surgery I think you look absolutely fantastic ? up and cruising the halls. I don't think you look angry, I'd say it looks like you are just taking care of the business at hand ? which is no small feat considering all that was involved in your surgery. You look great! For over a week after my surgery I was shuffling along the hospital halls doing "laps" twice a day. The question was always "so how many laps have you done today?" I had to do my laps holding on to a rolling I.V. stand which was loaded with 3 rather gory looking boxes connected to my 3 drainage tubes and a beeping heparin I.V. dispenser (since it had batteries it continued working even when it was unplugged). No personal dignity there! But I felt like I was accomplishing something, I was walking back into life step by step. That's what I see you doing in this picture and why it's so touching, you are literally stepping back into life. All the best to you as you recover day by day.

p.s. I loved my heart pillow too. I kept it with me all the time. Since I sleep on my side I'd wrap my arms around it and it helped prop me up and provide some support. When I started driving I placed it under the chest strap of the seat belt. When I'd get tired and lay down in the back seat of the car it was my pillow. Later when I was doing better and I went back to the hospital to thank the nurses who took care of me, some of them were amused that I still had my huggie heart pillow with me. Eventually it lost it's usefulness and now I'm not even sure where it's at. Thanks again for sharing your photos. Keep us posted as things progress OK?

Maybe you're saying "What the hell you taking my picture for?"

I remember having severe pain in my ribs, the nerves hurt a lot with movement, shooting pains in my chest.

Each day gets better. :)
