I guess that would be pretty painfull:eek:

We have a dog. Trying to teach him to stop jumping on us at the minute. He is heavy and it hurts, can't having jumping on Curtis when he as is op. He will be over excited to see us when we get back from hospital.

No. It doesn't. And it doesn't feel so good either  . Even a few years out.

Six fun cats here, including the 15+ pounder who likes to occasionally tap dance on my chest to wake me up,
two great dogs, and can I include the hundreds of wild birds I feed--probably not.

This is the lost puppy we could have adopted if I weren't having stupid heart surgery next month!

4 cats!
9 weeks out* 1 chest jump * ouch!
Pretty good odds

However, do your cats weave in and out of your feet when you walk?
A fall or even a stumble could be very serious

1 rather large Shiloh Shepherd/Lab mix - Buckley
1 African Grey parrot Sadie - such a sweety. We snuggle and watch TV together at night
1 Quaker Parrot - Oiseau (wah - zoh - French for bird) He's an old curmudgeon but loves to sing songs like "take me out to the ballgame" (it's root root root for the White Sox, if they don't win it's a shame! Take that Cort!)
1 Lovebird - Tweeples - just a little sweety tweetie, as I call her. She thinks she's a big bird.

1 semi house-trained husband Glenn.

1 80 lb guide dog (golden retriever, 4 yrs. old, with whom I'm madly attached to)
1 10 lb bichon frise, Beau, 6 yrs. old (jealous of the golden, and it's reciprocated)
2 10 lb yorkies, Shannon & RJ (14 & 12 yrs. old)
3 cats, Jet, Boots & Timone (4, 3 & 1 yrs. old)

Yes, we are crazy, but then we would be lost without them.

Karlynn, I didn't know you have such a bird sanctuary. It sounds like a happy household.

Attached is a picture of Timone, our babiest.

Obviously, from my screen name, we have cats.
I spent two weeks at my parents' home in Dallas after leaving the hospital -- for a variety of reasons: so my dad could take me to the first few post-op appointments (INR, surgeon, etc.), so someone would be around in case of a complication during regular working hours and so the cats wouldn't jump on my chest.
I had a litter of Abyssinians born May 6 and my surgery was June 24. Raising kittens means getting down on your hands and knees a lot -- much like with human children -- so John had to do a lot of that while I recuperated.

When John had his MV repair 1 year ago, he came straight home from the hospital. His Oriental Shorthair, Blacky, usually sleeps on top of John, but I don't remember if he did that during that time. John had a thoracotomy, rather than a sternotomy, so perhaps that could have been the difference.

We have one very needy cat, an Abyssinian named Fred, who will work his way onto us and then start kneading on us. Fred is very friendly and just needs a lot of human interaction, even though he has several feline companions. At times, he seems more like a human than your typical cat.

We have 4 scottish terriers, two of whom are litter mates. We also had a cockatiel, but he passed away this past Easter at age 17.

I used to have but NOT all at the same time
6 English Setters
3 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
Had to put my last Cavalier down about 5 years ago.
Hope this counts, cause I used to have "kids".

Pets....okay, here we go.

Currently (post OHS):
2 Nubian goats, 1 chocolate Labrador dog, 3 cats, 3 turtles, 1 tortoise, 5 chinchillas (rescues).

Previously (before OHS):
2 horses, 2 ponies, chickens, quail, ducks, pigeons, doves, rabbits, wild bird rehab.
Dogs: Bouvier des Flandres, Airedale, Bichon Frise, German Shepherd, Cocker Spaniel, Doberman.
Various parrots, canaries, budgies, grass parakeets, finches.
Salamanders, newts, frogs, hermit crabs, snakes.
Hedgehogs, Guinea pigs, hamsters, mice.
I hope I didn't forget anyone......

Following is a picture of the love of my life, my half Arab/Paint gelding, Skylar, in his paddock. My cardio and I fought about him....I refused OHS until Skylar had passed away, he was in his thirties, and I almost ended up dead before him...oops, not recommended.
He is buried in a sunny corner of his paddock where he ate all my raspberry bushes.
