I am four years post op following an aortic valve replacement and have had a fairing general recovery. I do aerobics several times per week, eat well, take my warfarin regularily. Have had several periods of dizzy spells with one instance of blurred vision. These don't last more than a few minutes and happen every three to six months so not often. My doc's don't seem to concerned but I find them disconcerting. Anyone else experiencing this over the long term??

I've had occular migranes on occasion with similar symptoms, although they were much more frequent and severe prior to my surgery. Mine seemed to be triggered by stress.

I would suggest you pursue it further with you doctor.

I'm almost a year and a half post-op from an AVR, MVR and Aortic Root Repair and also have these occasional dizzy spells and rarely blurred vision. They happen a little more frequently, maybe about once every month or two. But they go away after a couple of minutes of rest. Also quite discerning but when i mentioned it to my cardiologist he too didn't seem very concerned with it. He said that if they are ever accompanied by chest pains or erythmias then to go straight to a hospital otherwise, they should just pass. He seemed to believe that it may be medication and/or diet related???

I notice infrequent dizzy spells as well (tissue valve, no medications) which clear quickly. A good friend on this site also recently experienced an episode of transient global amensia which apparently has a higher incidence rate among people with valve disease and prone to migraines.
