My husband and I registered for this 5K, we're running with a group of soldiers from Camp Mabry. If you live in TX and want to participate, you can register online. This will be my first post op 5K, YAY!:D A great way to celebrate my 7 month anniversary too!

No need for me to travel all the way to Texas. There's one just like it in Albany, NY the same day called the Home Town Heroes 5K.

Hi Louise, good luck on your race on the 15th and have lots of fun!!
You'll do great, you've been running alot and a 5k I'm sure will be easy for you.
Take care Debbie :)

Thanks Debbie. I ran 3.22 miles today, 98 degrees, time 29:44, 9.14 minute miles. I don't know why but I'll take it. We run again tomorrow, rest on Friday, eat pasta and have a couple glasses of wine!

I will be happy with whatever time I get on Saturday. I'll take my camera for pics. :)

Best wishes for a fun and successful run. There something extra special about participating in a run that benefits/honors others, especially those that have given so much. Enjoy!!

We had a lot of fun! A lot of soldiers and their families ran. Gov Rick Perry passed me and my husband at 1 1/2 miles. Here's a pic of he and I at the finish. This guy is so personable, you would not think he is the governor.

Our time: 27:20, 8.48 minute miles. The course was rolling hills and we took advantage of the downhills.

Thanks for sharing the pictures Louise, looks like you had fun. The run times are a good challange and a great goal, but more important is the great time you were able to share with others in the race and the wonderful opportunity we have now to make our bodies stronger and healther each and every day!!
Take care and when is your next race?
Debbie :)

Hi Debbie,

I hope to start running competitively again and yesterday was a good start for me. I placed third in my age group, 40-49. There was a pregnant lady running, she had to be at least 5 months along, she led everyone out and we never saw her again until after the finish. Now I'm not that nuts. It was hot, at least 80 and humid.

The next race we are thinking about won't be until August 7th, it's an evening run, "2008 Moonlight Margarita Run", benefitting the Lady Bird Lake Trail. Post-race fiesta with margaritas, fajjitas, and mariaches.

I've known many competitive women who kept on running races while pregnant. They have all been careful. The one you saw running fast was probably capable of running much faster. Those I knew had been 17 to 18 minute 5K runners, so when they ran 19-20 minutes which still seemed fast to most, they were actually backing way off their best pace. Some of them kept going up to 7 months. After that it becomes counter-productive for both.
