All, in light of my 30th birthday this summer and the anniversaries of my three OHS, I am working on a project to pay it forward to the Congenital Heart Defect community. If you have not heard of the International Children's Heart Foundation, you need to check them out at babyheart.org. This fantastic non-profit provides free heart operations and medical services to children in developing countries. Since 1993, they have preformed over 6000 life saving operations. For 2013, the goal is to save 1000 children. To pay it forward, I am supplying the organization comfort blankets for these tiny heart warriors. In addition, each blanket will have a story attached in honor, memory, or recognition of a former or current heart warrior. For most of my childhood, I thought I was alone in overcoming my heart defect. I was the only one with a scar separating my left and right sides off chest. I want to connect heart warriors around the globe, give these new kids a warrior to look up to. I am asking this heart community for 2 things - (1) follow my efforts on FaceBook by searching for Project Kardia (2) submit your story as a heart warrior! I appreciate your consideration! If you are paired with a current heart warrior, you will receive a picture and story of your match.
