Hi Folks, I'm in the hospital right now, waiting for my PT/INR to get back in range so I can go home. I've been here 3 days after a 4 minute hernia operation. I'm on Heparin (drip mode, with an IV) after stopping my Coumadin 4 days before the surgery and on Lovenox 2 days prior. Getting back into range with the Coumadin has been very slow for me, this happen the first time too. I'm only at 1.07 after 3 days of the stuff. It seems like I have 2 or 3 more days here if it continues at this rate. Will

William, I just got out of the slammer after I think 5 days with a heparin drip and taking oral coumadin. They kind of (LOL) overshot my PTT and had my all the way up to 74. (I think they wanted me between 50-60.). Oops! I'm finally just (!) on coumadin 5 mg per day.
Be patient, it drove me crazy when I had to just sit around waiting for my INR to get therapeutic. I'm glad you 've got a computer to keep you entertained.

Just try and consider it a spa visit and enjoy the rest. At least they care enough to make sure your INR is correct before they spring you.

Keep those computer keys clicking and you will be out before you know it.

If you are at the hospital by the water, just watch the ships pass and wonder who is on/in them. You sound pretty good, considering. You will be home soon to enjoy our beautiful Florida sunshine. Don't lift anything....... Keep us posted. Blessins.....

The worst part is, they probably didn't need to have you stop the Coumadin in the first place. Hernia repair is nothing dramatic and certainly no great blood loss. :(
