HI all Ive been away for a while but the last couple of days my heart feels like it does a flop. Just one time then its done. 5 times Sunday. 5 times yeasterday and about 7 times today. If I take a Xanex it seems to make it stop. I wonder if its that I just went back to work starting 5th week very physical job and hard. Also we are starting a new business and a new baby on the way. My aunt Died yesterday and viewing was tonight. Along with coaching Football and Basketball. My young son just broke his hand and had surgery 2 weeks ago. My 15 year old is having surgery in 2 weeks for a disk in his back. Do we think this could be stress related? Thats what Im thinking now that I have wrote all this down.
HMM I need a new Pic
Thanks Lee

I think that's pretty likely Lee. I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Yes, stress is an nasty, quiet enemy of the heart. I can always tell I'm under stress by the way my heart acts.

Your "thumps" may be Ventricular Bigeminy (sp). I used to have them all the time prior to my surgery. It feels like your heart is skipping a beat and then makes an extra hard beat (thump) to catch up. These are considered fairly benign.

Hello Lee,

Sorry to hear of all the stressors in your life. Yes, stress is a BIG contributor to several types of heart arrhythmias. I get PAC's (Premature Atrial Contractions) under certain conditions (over 2 years post op). One of my triggers appears to be CAFFEINE (in the form of Chocolate...and I LOVE chocolate...bummer). Other triggers are Stress, alcolhol, and some others that I have forgotten.

If it continues, it would be wise to tell your cardiologist who will likely put you on a monitor to determine the exact type of palpatation you are experiencing. THEN he can prescribe a treatment method.

Best wishes for your continued improvement.

Hey Al
Well you make a good point there. Ive been off my diet for a month or so. When your working its just to hard to fiqure out. But about the chocolate and alcohol. Sunday me and my wife went out and for the first time I had a draft beer Just 1. and then Sunday night I ate about 10 Chocolate Donuts. These could be the problem along with all the other crap going on. I did take off work today for the funeral and sleep about 10 hours. I havnt had any today so far so maybe some rest and no donuts and beer.
