Hi everyone,

I saw the cardiologist today and he wants me off the Rythmol in a week (after tapering it) and I will then start on zebeta 5 mg before bedtime.

My primary care physician suggested a beta blocker for my anxiety (to help wean me off the Ativan) and I brought this up with the cardiologist today - he agrees that the zebeta should help a lot with the anxiety AND the PACs, of which I am having many, many these days. :(

I am MAD, irritated at having the PACs - as I can't get my mind off of my heart. If it weren't for the PACs, I would feel pretty darn good right now. They did an EKG on me today and I am in sinus rhythm, but just having a lot of PACs.

The cardiologist still can hear no hint of a murmur from my repaired mitral valve. :) That is always great news to hear.

Just wanted to update everyone and ask again how many of you have had PACs/PVCs that have been helped with the beta blocker medicines.

Overall, I am still so very thankful for making it through the surgery with a successful repair - even though I have had my share of problems post surgery, I feel very, very lucky so far. I can't complain, but I do sometimes. Ha! :)

Have a great evening everyone. Thanks for your help.

Hi Christina,

I am so sorry you are having the PAC's. Can't recall If I told you..mine came on 3 months post op. Kind of strange. Anyway, they tried all kinds of meds until we just plain gave up.

Upon seeking treatments for my migraines 2 years later they put me on Inderal LA 60MG. This is one of the original beta blockers. Some of my new doctors have tried to get me to part with it. Tried this a few times, no such luck. It does not really help with the migraines that much (exercise does)!...but I will tell you, 98% relief from the PAC's! They may come under stress or being tired..but don't last very long. Think I will keep my Inderal and ride off in the sunset:)

Hope they can find something that works well for you.

Gina,

That is great to hear, that beta blockers will probably work for my PACs. Also, the nurse yesterday told me that beta blockers help the heart to work more efficiently and they are finding more positive effects of beta blockers all the time. SO, I guess if I have to be on a heart medication, a beta blocker isn't the worst thing I could take. :)

I won't start the Zebeta until a week from now - have to taper the Rythmol first. :(
