Overseas Heart valve replacement

Has anyone gotten an aortic valve replacment in India, Thailand or S. Korea?
We have limited insurance and are looking for surgeons outside of the USA that perform aortic valve replacements. We have been told to find a surgeon that does the replacements often. Any ideas?

Amy I am sorry to hear of your predicament of having to seek major surgery overseas. I haven't heard of people going to S.Korea for surgery. I know people go from Australia to Thailand for cosmetic surgery for two reasons firstly cosmetic surgery isn't covered by Australia's national health system and secondly they can have surgery and a holiday to recover cheaper than surgery is Australia. I have seen a few documentaries on people going from first world countries to India for surgery. The major India hospitals that specialise in surgery on foreigners like to advertise that their surgeons have practiced in the US of UK this seams to give them credibility. The success rate from these Indian hospitals tends not to be as good as major first world hospitals. The only India hospital that I have heard of that specialise in foreigners is Apollo. There are others but I do not know their names.
