I think but I am not sure I took the double dose of warfarin last night.
I got really low with 9 mg and the doctor but be on 10 mg a day for the last two weeks. I do went from 1.7 to 2.4 in a few days. I have not tested my INR for more than a week I am due to be tested on Thursday night.
Will never happen again. What do I have to look out for what is the way to go. When will i see the effect of an overdose etc.
I expect my level to be hight anyway kind of in the 3 to 4 level. But then it might be even higher. Should I take a lower dose the next two nights until I have my test result or should I test daily for the next few days.
I am worried

I would take 1/2 dose today and go back to regular tomorrow since you think your INR should be coming up anyway.

Better for your INR to be a little high than too low.

I would test in 3 days when what you took last night will actually show up in your INR.

If you don't have a daily pill box, you should get one. That will prevent this from happening again.

Hi, if indeed you did double-up on your warfarin then the day you would want to test would be on Thursday anyway so you are in good shape there.

Your prescribed dosage went from 63mg per week to 70mg per week which is just about an 11% increase which falls on the lower end of 10-15% increase often recommended. As long as your 1.7 INR wasn't the result of MISSING a dose to start with you should be OK.

If I was in the same situation I think I would just take the 10mg for the next couple of days and see what my INR is on Thursday. If it is acceptable then you probably didn't double-up and are in good shape. If it is way too high then you might have to reduce for a couple of days. If you did double-up then you won't be able to tell what the increase really did until at least another week. My INR range is 3.0 - 4.0 and as long as I'm below 5.0 I don't change anything.

Anyway, don't panic. Wait for your Thursday result and go from there.
Let us know, OK?

Dear Gina and Betty,
Thanks for your quick reply, that meant I could go to work without worring too much about it. I let you know what my test result shows on Friday.
I still have not figured out if I took the extra dose. I mean that I could forget to take my dose I can understand, I can even come to terms that I took an extra dose, however that I do not know what I did worries me a bit. By the way I was in no way intoxicated. I do have my daily tablet dispenser and It worked for me so far. Well I just really made a mess of it.
Thanks

If a one-time double dose puts you in danger, then there would not be enough people left on this website to keep it interesting.

Well I did not overdose. Or maybe I am imune to Warfarin. I heard that some Rats were not affected. My INR level is down on 2. And my dose is still going higher and higher.
The day will come and I will figure out what dose will keep my INR level steady.
By for now

Since you're having so much trouble right now, you might want to keep a daily log - what you're eating, type & duration of exercise, weather, general health (particularly gastrointestinal issues), alcohol, other medicines and/or supplements. There may be a correlatoin that you'll see if it's down on paper.

Do this for a week or two & share results with your physician... or better yet, here - Lots of really capable people here to help you figure it out.
