Well folks I did it. A week ago tomorrow at *8:30 AM at Seattle's Swedish-Providentia Heart center Dr. Joe Tipley took me over. He did a MV repair thinking that will be enough. There is still a small leak in the AV but again in his opinion it wasn't worth replacing. This is exactly what I wanted..Conservative Surgery..

I was in till Monday because of the four hour drive home. That went well and uneventful except I think it is why today (tues) was so hard.

Did OK the first 24 hours then went into AFib which got the staff all excited. That was taken care of so now all I have is one hell of a lot of pain expecially when a sneeze or cough sneakes up. Today was a hard day, lots of fatigue and pain but I have made it.

Did any of you swing back amd forth from hot sweats to cold feet and back? Or have crazy psychedelic dreams while under meds? Boy do I ever have some weird visions.
I understand about the pillow thing. Mine is bright red and heart shaped. It is a life saver.

Medications? My Gott in Himmel I have thirteen to take every morning. Foutunately most drop off after another week.

Well folks I guess I am one of the gang now. Knowing you are out there was and is a good feeling. Thank you Oh yes, Valerie my wife did just fine. She couldnt find a handy computer sdo iddn't email the forum.

It's great to hear from you, Bob. I'm so happy for you that the surgery went well, and you're on the road now. Congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Great news, Bob...glad to see you over here on this side of the mountain! Regarding the various things you asked about:

Hot sweats: CHECK! I had a big ol' fan I stood right in front of my recliner so I could turn it on at a moments notice.

Cold Feet: CHECK! Still have this one, 9 months later.

Afib: CHECK! Threw many events in the hospital where my heart was beating 200 bpm plus, and one bout after coming home. I was on amiodarone for a month, and no problems since.

Pyschadelic Dreams: CHECK! I had these in the hospital. I woke up in the middle of the night with a super-vitamins info-mercial on the TV in my room. I thought I worked for the people on the TV and that they were going to be mad at me for being sick LOL!

13 Medications: Well, you got me there, I only had 11. I'm down to Coumadin and a beta-blocker.

Congratulations. :D

congrats bob

i glad to see that you are doing well. take care of yourself.

i also have cold feet ( coumdin), started with 9 meds ( down to 3 plus a baby aspirin ) and had a nasty nightmare in the hospital ( due to the morphine ).

rest , exercise and most importantly live your life.

rich:)

Hi Bob

Hi Bob

Glad to see you back..most of the meds the surgeon takes you off in about 3 weeks..Then Card. will take over...Try to walk in the house a lot, take your pain meds..nap..and soon you will be outside strolling..Slow recovery..Bonnie

Congrats, Bob!

Glad you came through in good spirits.
I too had all those symptoms you mentioned, aside from the heavy meds.

All normal.
It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks before your sleep patterns will return to normal. Those damn dreams don't make it very restful either. Don't worry, things will get back to normal. Over the next few weeks you will find your strength will return and many of these symptoms will pass.

Keep well.
Kev
