If anyone is on tonight, can you advice me on what to do? Thought I had enough blood pressure pills and ran out, no way to get them filled till morning because can't get a transfer to a 24hr store tonight. Will miss like two doses till tomorrow. What should I do? Or is there anything I can do? Will this affect the ONX valve?

Blake,
I have skipped a dose and taken it as soon as possible the next day, but I don't know if our conditions or circumstances are the same. If you have insurance, see if you can find a number for an on-call nurse and call them to ask about it. If you are really worried then call your prescribing physician's office. If they are a big office, someone will be on call to give you advice, if you can't get anyone then call the local emergency room if you are really worried.

Once this is over and you have your new prescription, you might want to keep one or two pills from each refill and store a small amount of them as a backup in one of your old but same Rx pill bottles for times like this.

Thank You so much, I can not believe I missed this prescription. I have so much medicine to take I've been trying to get them filled a little at a time. Thanks again for the advice.

I would call your dr too, and then just go from there. Lionheart pretty much said it all do some phone calling and find out if your ok a couple of days. I haven't looked at your profile to find out if you've had OHS yet, but if you have or haven't you would probally still need to make some phone calls. Good Luck.

Blake, I don't think that missing your blood pressure medicine for one day should not cause any problems with your valve. I took beta blockers for years when I was younger and would often miss a dose here or there without any big deal.

I agree with Lionheart, if you are really so very worried, call your Dr's office and speak to the on-call Dr. to make sure you are ok. I'm sure you will be fine until the morning.

Thanks a lot guys, I will probably be okay until morning, I did take one pill today. Don't think it will affect the ONX valve too much. I will always remember from now on how much meds are left and will put a couple up for forgetfulness, lol. Thanks everyone!

Blake,
Most of these medicines have a half-life of more than a day, so you will likely have some in your system anyway. I've forgotten my beta-blocker a few times over the years, remembered because of getting a headache midday. Follow up with your calls as everyone said, but don't freak out about it. Anxiety has its own set of symptoms;).

I keep emergency meds, (what I call them) because sometimes I will be out doing something and I don't have to rush home to take my meds. I take them all at a certain time of day. I keep these emergency meds with me in my purse! You got a fluid pill? that might help if your bp is high.

Sometimes, with emergencies such as these, call your PCP & tell them what happened & have them write an Rx to hold you thru the weekend or just enough meds to hold you until you get your medication.

This happened to me last month......I forgot to call in an Rx for my mail order of potassium & I ran completely out & it was on a Thursday. So I called my PCP & they did an emergency Rx to the pharmacy to get me thru the weekend plus extra just in case my mail order took longer than expected. It worked out great!

From now on though, I will definitely keep a closer eye on my refill date!

What helps me is a weekly pill box reminder then i too get an idea
how many are left before i run out and reminds me this way
that i gotta stock up...been in your shoes to....think youll be fine though

Things that work for me:

1) I printed and posted a sheet with the daily schedule of medicines. I put a copy in the drawer with the medicines.
2) I carry a pill box with some of the high priority pills.
3) Every week or two I write an inventory of my medicines, adding the approximate dates when each is due for a refill.
