hey guys...
Semi-seriously looking at cars again, I currently have a 2001 beetle, which is almost paid off, I'm looking at trading it in while its still got some value (low mileage 77K) I LOVE this car, I'd really like to stick with VW. So far I've narrowed it to 2 options, I'm looking at either the Tiguan (compact/crossover) or the Golf (compact hatchback) the Tiguan is my first option (neither are bad, would love both) does anyone here have any experience with these vehicles, or any other opinions? probably gonna wait till spring/summer to make any moves (when is the best time to buy a car, anyways?) probably gonna get mom to cosign if I cant do it myself (hopefully)....we'll see what happens

This isn't meant to tell you what to do, but if I were you and still so young, with many years of car ownership ahead, I would keep the Beetle if it is still running well and not costing a fortune in repairs. Not having a payment can afford you the luxury of saving for the next car or just save the money you would be spending on a new car payment. I couldn't give advice about the two prospective choices though. Best of luck with your decision!

Morgan, How long has it been? I thought we just had this conversation!;) I think I told you that I drove Rabbits for decades, and loved them. My problem was mechanics. Of all my cars my favorite is the Civic Si I have now, but sometimes I miss the GTI. It was a little better in the snow, and pulled my boat easier. If you think you can save by keeping the bug, that is something to consider, otherwise I think I'd go with the Golf. All the best, Brian

What BMW is out of the question?

LOL Ross, I wish....
I just talked with my cousin, and checked out the payoff for the beetle is a little over 2k, I've got a plan I'm gonna save up till this fall, probably by august/sept I can have 5-6K saved up to put as a down payment plus the trade in on the beetle, this is looking pretty tangible right now, I'm freaking excited, just hope nothing goes down between now and then, should have no problem making this happen (had to do the math though, LOL)

Invest a few bucks every once in a while in the lottery and maybe you'll be able to buy a stable full of cars!

I'm hoping to keep my 2001 Honda CRV going until May 2011 when we have a mortgage "burning" party. I've got 206,000 miles on the car now; we're down to only 14 months left on our 15-year mortgage. Maybe I'll look at VWs then.

well,
it looks like things look better than I thought, my current beetle is worth almost 5K (3K better than I had guessed) looking at buying the car tomorrow!!! gotta test drive, and work some numbers, but apparrently I'm already preapproved! I'm psyched....
I'll keep in touch

WOW! What can I say? This beast looks awesome.

As they say "Black cars look better in the shade".

Good Luck and enjoy.

I'm I getting old around here? I remember when you bought your yellow little bug.
