Just thought I would vent a little.....I had called the doctor's office about getting two of my meds refilled, and the nurse said she would fax it in to the pharmacy....I called the pharmacy and told them that I would be in later to pick the meds up, and she said "what prescriptions? none were called or faxed in...." this is the second or third time that this is happened, so I called the doctor on call and I was put through to a nurse who told me that this wasn't important enough to bother the doctor and to call back on Monday.....and then when I told her that I was tired of this "crap" she got mad and angrily offered to put me through to the covering doctor....I said I don't think so...you didn't want to put me through the first time, so I will just deal without the meds, but my doctor will be hearing about this on.....I just can't believe how bad the medical practice is in this area....I am wondering if I need to move to Arizona or something in order to get the proper care....Sheesh....Ok...I am off of my soapbox now...sorry for venting, it just made me sooooo mad....      Harrybaby

I think at least one of us on this site should go to medical school just to take care of all of us.:D :D ;)

Sorry you are having problems, Harry. Just think, if you move to Arizona, even if you don't get better healthcare, at least you will not have to put up with winter.

Take care and yell at the doctor (but only AFTER you know the prescriptions are called in).

Awww Harry! Like you don't have enough to put up with! Sending big old cuddly hugs to you!

Harry, you just go ahead and vent. That's what we are here for. I've had this happened to me on several occasions. It also makes me so upset. I'm real anxious to see how my new Mediciare Prescription D plan will work when I go to get my "Gleevec" for my leukemia. The coverage don't go into effect until February 1. Time will tell. Let's pray that everything goes smoothly.

Harry, hugs are coming your way. Please don't let it get your blood pressure up. Breathe and take it easy. First thing tomorrow call your doctor.

Harry, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with something like this. This prescription thing should be a "no brainer" with these doctors and nurses. Sometimes even the pharmacy makes it harder than it needs to be. I travel back and forth between Virginia and Florida and sometimes need to have a script sent from one pharmacy to another and at times you'd think I was asking for "the world". I mean it's just a phone call. Try not to get upset although I know exactly how you feel. But please don't make yourself sick over it. Calmly, call your doctor tomorrow and let him know what happened and how it has happened several times before. LINDA

Wonder how many other patients' prescriptions weren't faxed in and this nurse had to deal with . . .? Believe me, I'm not excusing her behavior. Sounds like someone else dropped the ball.

I've had occasional discussions with my doc's nurse; if they'd give us 6 months' worth of refills, they'd cut their refill work load in half. My doc always refills for 3 months. I take 10 prescription meds (counting coumadin only once, although there are several strengths I have rx's for); I'm always needing doc's approval for something. It seems a real waste of time and training to have nurses spending so much time calling in refills.
