What level is to high or low, do you go to A+E if it gets to high or low.Do you get some kind of information sheets, when you leave hospital. Thanks Paula x

2-5 is a somewhat reasonable range. If I got down to 2.0, I would be sure to take a higher dose, such as 7.5 mg for me that day. If I got up to 5.0, I would be sure to take a lower dose that day, such as 5 mg for me. I test weekly, so it is very rare to go outside of that wider range. I hope that helps.

I shoot for a range of 2.5-4.0. I adjust up for anything lower than 2.6 and down for anything higher than 4.6 (although it is rare that I am out of range). My INR has never been high enough to send me to the ER although I would go if it were above 6.0 and I was having signs of bleeding. I go for a lab test if my home monitor shows me above 5.5 just to have something to compare for the doctor conversation. My doctor is still not totally convinced of home testing so we have reached a compromise. He is coming around tho. :D

Chloes INR range is 3 - 4 but I accept anything from 2.5 - 4.5 and don't bother ringing the hospital to keep them informed unless her coaguchek is above 5 - 5.5 (although we don't get admitted even then normally) or below 2.3ish when I give some extra warfarin.

Hi Paula - The range of INR depends on the type of problem, and your doctor should advise you of this before leaving the hospital. You will probably be under the watchful eyes of a coumadin clinic for awhile-or forever unless you decide to do home testing. They should explain what you should do in detail. Hope this helps.
