My foot injuries have mended well. Yes, plural injuries. Just when the plantar fasciitis got under control I strained a ligament in the other foot. During foot healing, I started swimming and cycling, but managed to gain some weight while on the sidelines.

Then came the discovery of Crohn's and 2 colonoscopies. It is also under control with medicine - Pentassa.

So, with healthy feet (and regular bowels - TMI :), I'm back at regular exercise and weight reduction - finally after 4 months on the sidelines. A neighbor friend and I are training for a short triathlon in October.

My regular cardio visit went real well. I presented him with a framed photo of me at the finish line of the Dallas White Rock Marathon last December. He was tickled pink and called me his hero. Imagine that! He ran marathons in college, so the compliment was especially gratifying. I'll get a blood test tomorrow. If the HDL hasn't risen, he wants to medicate it.

I can't tell you how excited I am for Mark's 4th marathon and Bill's Ironman. I figure that as I write this, Bill is somewhere in his marathon event to complete the Ironman. This is a tremendous feat for anyone, but one of us? Absolutely incredible! Les, see what you started?

Tom,
I'm glad you're making progress! I've been going to the pool and using flippers to get some leg strength back before I am officially sanctioned by the surgeon to resume "swimming." Just the act of putting my goggles and swim cap on makes me feel more normal!

I can't say with certainity, but I believe I feel much better now than I did before surgery. Woo Hoo!
Mary
