There's a passel of Pilgrims on one side. Later there were whalers and lighthouse keepers. My grandfather's brothers were the founders of a vey large and successful potato business in Maine, whose products were sold all the way down to New Jersay at one point.

There was even a preacher, who went out to reform the Native Americans on one of the islands off of Massachusetts. They found him dead.

That's why I do my talking on the internet... :D

Best wishes,

Not to worry; there are plenty of us in here. My children's father was related to Aaron Burr. My grandfather was a pirate in Key West. Mother recalls someone coming to the window at night calling softly to him. Next morning a ship would have crashed on the reefs and viola - local men would go to salvage the ship. The men would put out the lighthouse light and light another lantern that would guide the ship onto the coral reef. Not even going to tell you about my other grandfather. I live a nice clean life, tho. No skeletons in my closet and probably none in yours.

Well, maybe there is that one.......

Genealogy and computers or so cool!

Genealogy and computers or so cool!

I never was in to it till a lot of records were online. Then about 5 years ago I joined a site and started doing record searchs of things I remembered my long past parents and grandparents had mentioned. Just like a puzzles, the pieces came together bit by bit. I found that I was related the a vice-president of the U.S.(members from Maine, you know who he is), the first born child of the Mayflower group after they landed at Plymouth and a man who started a college in Turkey on which stand two buildings build to honor members of my family. I even found pictures of my family and the university has it's own website. When I compared my g-g-grandfather's college picture
to my own H.S. picture, the comparison is haunting the same. I would post the two side by side but then my enemies here would know who to shoot at-really I'm not that good with computer and pictures.

Hey Yaps,

Dr David Hosack was Alexander Hamilton's physician and pronounced him dead at the duel with your ancestor the VP. Hamilton's death has yet to be avenged................Nahhhhhhhhhh, let's not go there. :D :D :D Actually, we have not found a connection with Dr David (yet?) - have to match up records in the old country.

Isn't Ancestry, com a pay site? I haven't wanted to pony up. Sounds like you've gotten some good information.

My great grandfather survived the Andersonville prison, became a doctor and state rep in PA. He left behind a journal that was good for extra credit in Social Studies every year. :) I was able to find an 1850 census record showing him living with his grandfather.
