I just posted a thread asking why my Internet Explorer shut down every time I tried to view a certain post with a picture of a water animal in it. And when I posted the new threat it also shut down my IE. (Which is why I'm now not using any of the key words from those posts.)

Is this some sort of strange black magic you've conjured up?

What operating system XP? Internet Exploder 6 SP1? All updated? Give me all the details you can and I'll try to figure out whats going on.

Does it give off any error messages before it shuts down? If so, can you post the entire error message?

I have windows 98 and am running IE 6.0

I just tried again to view the original fish post, as well as the first thread I posted saying that it shut down IE (I can't see the fish). And they both shut it down again. It's not a big deal, I've never had it happen before, but I was just wondering if you had an idea of why it happened. Don't feel you need to waste a lot of time figuring it out.

Thanks Ross!

It just shuts down without an error message or anything? Have you run any anti spyware scans lately and if so, what program do you use?

It shuts down without an error message. I do run a spy killer program through System Mechanic and run it daily.

I'd try the Internet Exploder Repair Tool and see if it doesn't make any difference. I've gone through all the settings and can't think of anything that would cause it to just plain shut down. What really makes it weird is just those 2 threads.

To run the Exploder Repair Tool, go to control panel>Add/Remove Programs>click on Microsoft Internet Exploder 6 sp1 and internet tools>click the Add/remove button and in the pop up window, change the radio button to repair internet exploder and click o.k.

Once it runs through, you'll need to reboot and see if it helped at all. Let me know what happens. I may need to go dig up a Microsoft MVP and find out.
