Going in for OHS on March 24 to remove the 4 cm tumor in my left atrium (Atrial Myxoma). Second opinion I got from Oklahoma Heart Institute did not see the wisdom in waiting 3 months like my original surgeon wanted. Particularly since I have been getting some dizzy spells and there is a risk of stroke from the tumor flaking or breaking off and entering the bloodstream. Am so glad I don't have to wait to have it removed, even though I am of course nervous about the surgery and recovery itself.
The Atrial Myxoma can often interefere with the valve enough to make valve replacement necessary also. Mine has not yet, so another reason to go ahead and do surgery now. Have read (and continue to read) everyone's posts on what to expect before and after surgery. Thank you for the info!
