I think that I must have missed yesterday's dose, it ought to have been 5mg.

I keep a notebook by the side of these tablets and write in each day when I take my dose, some days I take 6mg, some days 5mg and when instructed I take 10mg to give it a boost.

I am due to go to the warfarin clinic on Wednesday or Thursday and will tell them that I think I missed one. Normally I am at the low end of my range or slightly below. I assume that there is not much that I can do now. Will it be better to go for my test on Wednesday or can it wait until Thursday?

Call it pumphead, either that or the messing about with our clocks this weekend. I don't normally forget.

If you're pretty sure you missed a dose, I'd go ahead and take it if you're less than 12 hours past your usual time. If not, then I'd divide that missed dose up over the next few days so that you stay at your weekly total.

You may also want to get a weekly pill box and put all your meds in it for the week. This will let you know for sure whether you skipped a dose or not.

I only noticed when I went to take today's dose, so 24 hours late.

I am not sure that a weekly box would help me, I keep my night tablets (simvastatin and quinine) in my bathroom, then my morning tablets and my warfarin by my board where I prepare my food as I have to go to the board in the morning and early evening. This system works well for me, I would forget to check a box especially as I take tablets at three times each day.

Sue:

There are some pill boxes that have several compartments for each day, for those who pills at, say, morning, noon & night. Something like that might help you.

I would forget to look. It is much easier for me to have the pills in the place where I will have to be at the time I need to take them. This is the first time that I have forgotten to take medication. As I live alone there is no danger of children getting hold of them. I just really wanted to know if I ought to have my blood tested on Wednesday instead of Thursday, so in othe words one or two doses before I get tested.

Sue,

If it were me, I would take a extra half dose just so I didn't drop too fast if I did miss a dose. However, I am not a doctor or pharmacist - I am just mentioning what I would do.

Hope things turn out OK.

You could call the clinic and asked to be rescheduled for next week. The test will surely show that you missed a dose and then you actually learn nothing. I'd rather not test people if they miss a dose, but they keep comiong anyhow.
