First and foremost...an apology. I have been absent for a while from posting, tho I have been reading and keeping up with things 'round here...and keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers.

Second...I'm doing great, healthwise :). But, work wise...well, let's just say it's causing more stress than usual...and have had some chest pains develop, which my doctors believe are stress-related and not heart related. Work-life has been very rocky in the last month or so....to give you an example, among other issues, I've learned that my sick time is being "reviewed" for 2003, which as you all know, includes 2+ months for the Open Heart Surgery. That's all I'm gonna say about it because some of the issues are disheartening (pun intended ;)) and unbelievable it's not even funny..... Yep, I'm attempting to find the time to start looking elsewhere, but aye...that's more frustration...heh...irony rocks ;).

Third (and last...and to lighten this post up a bit), I spotted this in a thread on automobileforum and thought I'd share. Some cool models built with legos and awesome detail ;).

I still have my legos, but haven't touched 'em in quite a while. I still have a house built (complete with custom furniture), but the models in the 2 links put it to shame...LOL!

I hope things turn out alright Cort. You know as well as I do what they mean by "review". Perhaps your better off elsewhere anyhow. I'll keep you in the prayers none the less.

I never got into legos all that much. Maybe it's because I had a nasty habit of loosing the small pieces? Sounds cool anyway!

Take care of yourself as best you can and know that you are thought of often. ;)

Just be sure you have one to go to before you leave this one.

In Boston a few years ago, we went to Faniuel (sp) Hall and the Commons - on the Commons, there was a Lego display, tent and all. It has the most awesome displays. Sure can make lots of stuff with them. My great gson loves the challenge.

Hey Cort...
Let 'em review...It's like they think you have a problem or something...which you absolutely do not! Best of luck with that situation...we all understand.

Cort,
Good to hear from you, but sorry that your news isn't happy. Best wishes with your job situation. No job is worth the cost of your health.

all the best,
Karlynn

No job is worth the cost of your health.
I've been saying this since 1995. Sometimes it feels as if this statement is incorrect, but when your health goes South, you see the true meaning clearly.

Ross,

I appreciate the prayers. Yeah, I have an idea where this is headed...just didn't see this coming. Course, I spose we never really "see" anything coming that actually happens to us...lol.

I can't imagine that you'd lose little pieces ;).

Hensylee,

Yep...that's the goal to have one before anything happens where I am...whether that happens or not is yet to be seen.

Legos are definitely a challenge! I have a bunch of 'em, along with an HO model scale train. I enjoy looking at lego models and model train layouts, even if they put mine to shame....

Les,

Thanks...well put. I guess I hadn't thought of it like that. I'm glad you put it in that perspective for me. I'm doing all I can to _not_ give them "ammunition", but it seems like whatever I do is "wrong"....aye...but that's another story :(.

Karlynn,

Thanks. You're correct...and yet, well, as Ross eluded to, sometimes that statement feels incorrect :(.

Cort-

I am so sorry you are having this additional stress. I hope things work in your favor. But I'm glad to hear that you're being realistic and keeping an eye open for other venues. You are infinitely more employable when you are already employed.

Good luck!

Hey, Cort --

Glad to hear that you're (physically) doing OK. When we don't hear from you for a while we start to get nervous. After all, your last year hasn't been smooth sailing from the viewer's perspective, has it?

On the job front, why don't you PM me with some specifics as to your career choices, etc? I may be able to direct you to some lead sources if your specialties are anywhere along the lines I've worked with.

Above all, remember the teachings of W. Clement Stone, founder of what is now AON Corp., when he preached to all to "Keep a positive mental attitude." You will feel better, sell better, and do better.

You're in our prayers, bro.

*sighs*

I feel a twinge of guilt in posting about my "problems" after just reading (and replying to) the post about Kelly's death. Yet, I wanted to reply to Nancy and Steve.

But first...I felt clammy and cold at work today so I came home early. I scheduled a dr appt for this afternoon with my PCP and all went well. He does not believe it is the flu (no fever, etc.), but he isn't ruling it out either. He said the best thing to do is rest...which I've been doing all day.... I went to have Xrays taken of my chest (for the apparent stress-related chest pain) and of my left elbow (which, as some of you may recall, has been hurting off'n'on for a while now). Those results should come later this week.

Nancy,

I appreciate your kind words. The issue right now is _starting_ that job search. Course, that seems to be the issue with most things for me these days...starting something. Heh, I just talked to Mom about this the other evening...how I can never seem to find motivation to start something; yet, once I get started...it's hard to get stopped...LOL!

Steve,

Heh...you are correct...the past year hasn't exactly been gold. Yet, at the same time, 2003 features some very memorable and fun moments ;).

I appreciate your offer...and will PM you shortly.

As for that positive mental attitude, it's getting a bit tougher as of late (especially related to the job issues), but I'm doing my best :).

And...above all...thank you!
