It's been a year since the last time I have visited this forum. I'm glad that I still can remember my username and password.

I had two heart surgeries: my first heart surgery was in February 2007 - Mitral Valve Stenosis. The doctor repaired my heart valve. And the second one was last August 2013 and my repaired mitral valve was replaced with mechanical valve.

I have a couple of questions: 1) I still have occasional sharp chest pain; 2) I have nosebleed every now and then and I don't know if this is related or not to my Jantoven everyday or to my heart surgery.

Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.

Always check with your doctor if you experience anything that makes you uncomfortable. I have sharp chest pains infrequently and believe they are muscle, skeletal or nerve related....not heart related. After the trauma of chest surgery I don't think the body ever completely returns to normal. If they persist see your doc.

The Jantoven is not causing the nose bleeds but it will delay the clotting of the nose bleed a little. I have these in the winter when the air is dry and my nose dries out or if I blow my nose due to allergies. I've found that using a "sinus wash" (available OTC at drug stores) a couple times a day really helps my problem.

I doubt that the nose bleeds have anything to do with the heart surgery........I had nose bleeds long before I had surgery but if in doubt, ask your doc.
