Dear AL,after I had my AVR I began to experience numbness in my left arm from below the joint of the shoulder down to my hand .I spoke to my dr. about it he said it was probalby nerve damage durning surgery, I would experience this maybe 2 times a mth the other day it happen 3 times in one day Im concerned about it what would it be any of the meds i am taking diazoide .toprol, coumadin, verapamill he also said my INR level was good it is 1.6 which i know is too low so what do i do take it opon myself to increase the dose which is 3 mil every other day and 3 more on the 3rd day chris

Hey Chris,
I too have some numbness in my ring finger and little finger on my left hand. It isn't as bad as it was right after surgery but it is still there. The Dr. told me it was from how they have to lay you during surgery and some people have numbness because of it and some don't. It going on 8 months now since my surgery so I am hoping it will go away soon here.

As far as your INR goes the clinic or where ever you get it tested should be adjusting your doses for you to help get you in range. If they are not doing this I think I would look for another place to get tested or contact your Dr. about it.
Take Care

Dave
