hi folks ...I have a numb left hand except for tingles and pins and needles ...it goes all the way up my arm ...and my hand at times looks white compared to the other hand ...no great bother ...I think it is connected to some neck problem I had in the past due to a car accident ..but hubby
is concerned that it may be circulation problems related to my heart problems ...I HATE going to the Drs ...I'll do anything to avoid it ...anyone had this or got any suggestions ?
Thanks
Scottie

Hi There Scottie....

Hi There Scottie....

Hi There Scottie,
I have also had that happen to me, and my doctor told me that if it happened again to GET MY BEHIND TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. It could be like I have, an Ulner nerve gone bad in the arm, but in this case, unless you know for sure, GET TO A DOCTOR OR YOUR ER!!! Take Care and I hope it goes away and is nothing serious. Scottie,

With those symptoms I don't think you are going to get any responses other than YOU NEED TO GET THAT CHECKED OUT! It very well could be related to your neck, but it could be something more serious, especially if it looks like it's not getting blood flow. If my arm was losing its color and I was feeling "pins and needles" I would be at the doctor pronto.

Please get it checked out, and I hope it's nothing serious.

Please get this checked...

Please get this checked...

Their is an artery close to your clavicle, the subclavien artery, if its blocked this can occur, Ive a stent in my subclavien ,that blocks up if I blink, I was told that it blocking could damage some work that they had done in 4by-pass. It could be a clot..anything ...please go ..now... let us know..please..love yaps

Hi Scottie,

I was getting the same feeling in my RIGHT hand. I'd put my hand/arm in certain positions and it would start to go numb and I'd get the pins and needles in my fingers and hand. I went to a Neurologist and she found a pinched nerve in my neck and possibly one in my wrist. I had to wear a wrist splint when I slept, and it was supposed to get better. It still comes and goes. I've started to get right side headaches that won't go away with Advil or Tylenol, so shes sending me for an MRI. I have to wait until October for my appointment. Bleh, what a wait...it's already been several months.

I get similar feelings if I slouch back in my high back chair, or lay flat on my back in a way that seems to pinch an artery? or nerve that goes down (either) arm.

OR, it could be a clot in arm.

Best to have it checked out, especially if it does NOT go away when you change position or are standing with your arms loose.

Needles and Pins?? Bad.

Check it out. "Probably" nerve related, but you can't take the chance, AND if it is nerve related the quicker they relieve the "pinch" the less chance of permanent damage.

And thats my 2 cents.

Good luck!

hi scottie,
i agree with all the others in that you must have this checked as soon as possible...
i, too, had this happen to me (my husband is the patient!!!) and started having pins and needles in my fingers first, then my hand and by the next day it was my entire left arm. needless to say, i got very nervous.
neurologist (after seeing my chiropractor who did an MRI) confirmed that it was my herniated disk in my neck causing it... got a portable "traction unit" that fits over my door and that helped.
that's me though and if it were joey, i would be at the doctor's in a heartbeat (lol!).
please let us know when you know more.
feel better, sylvia
