I ended up in Accident and Emergency (A&E) whilst visiting London last Friday/Saturday. I had a nose bleed which started on Friday morning and would start again at random intervals - each took 5/10 minutes to stop. I went to A&E and had my bloods checked. I was given some ointment which has largely worked so far but was also told that I was slightly anaemic. Is it still possible to be anaemic after the operation 3 month ago (I did not receive any extra blood) or could it be my diet?

Thanks
Martin

Martin,

I'm sorry I can't really help you with this. I do hope you are feeling better and get some help. I would talk with your dr about this . As a child I had quiet a few, so I can relate in that sense. They are an inconvinience, to say the least.

Good luck

Nose Bleeds

Don't have a clue as to why you had some bouts with nose bleeds, but count yourself as fortunate that it only took 5-10 minutes to get the bleeds stopped.

I get nose bleeds frequently. The climate has little humidity where I live. Often just touching or scratching my nose starts to bleed. It often takes three or four hours to get my nose bleeds stopped. I had one that lasted five hours. A trip to the ER got it stopped, but it started bleeding again when I got home.

Yes it's possible to still be anemic after 3 months if you lost enough blood. Did they mention putting you on Ferrous Sulfate for a while?

The doctor did not say what the next course of action should be, so maybe I should get some Ferrous Sulfate in the meantime and ask for an extra blood test for anemia next time I go for an INR test.

Before you do that, did they say what type of anemia you had? Was it from low iron in the blood? If not, then don't do anything until you know what type of anemia your dealing with.
