YEAH!!!! I sent my cardiologist at Mayo an e-mail today to give her an update on how I'm doing. In the e-mail I expressed to her my discomfort with this drug and that I preferred not to be on it anymore. Literally within 5 minutes of my pressing send she called me. We had a nice chat about how I'm doing and then I shared with her my thoughts about amiodarone. She didn't really seem to keen on it herself. She said she would call the surgeon and discuss it with him and get back to me. Again, in about 5 minutes she called me back and said I could discontinue it today!!!! I'm so relieved. Please keep your fingers crossed that I don't run into any rhythm issues now that I'm not taking anything.

Thanks,

Kim

I am glad to hear the news. I was on it for 5 days while in the hospital and then 14 days after my release and after reading the paperwork was scared to death.

good luck jim

That is some scarry stuff. I was on it after OHS and I made the mistake of reading the pamphlet they provide. The next time I saw the surgeon, I told him I wanted off that stuff. He had my cardiologist take me off. At any rate.....I was sure glad to be rid of amiodarone! Let's hope we all stay off it

I'm glad this puts your mind at ease, and hope you have no rhythm problems. You have been on it a while, haven't you?

I had it 3 days in the hospital, 10 days at home, saw the alarming posts about it here, looked at my 3-day practically painless hospital stay, and figured maybe they knew what they were doing...but if the prescription had been extended, I would have questioned it.
