Does anyone know if Nicole has had her surgery?

Just wondering??

Rick

just wanted to let you all know whats up. I was flown to the hospitial last thurday because of chf, the plan was to go ahead and do my surgery on this past tues, did not happen and sent me home on monday giving up on me. The dr who said he was going to stick with me until the end decided I was too much of a risk and because my lungs are so bad they wont fix my heart and the lung drs wont fix my lungs because of my heart.so they sent me home with a not so good prognosis and said they couldnt do no more.
If you all know me by now Im not going to give up,because I know there is someone out there who can help me if that means waiting for a new heart and lungs,I will God has giving me the privlage to be here this long so when my time is up ,it will be.
PLease everyone keep me in prayer and I will try to keep in touch,MY dr is making arrangements to got to mayo clinic with me so I do have people still fighting on my behalf, hopefully I will feel up to it to read some posts I havent in awhile.

Nicole,

You are such a brave gal! I admire your faith and your willingness to not give up on life!! You are an inspiration to me - so young, but yet so wise.

I will be praying that your doctor will find a way to get you to Mayo and that some brilliant doctors up there can find ways to give you many, many more years of life, God willing.

May God be with you -
Christina L.

Nicole,

Was just reading about a cardiac surgeon here in Chicago that takes 'end stage' cases from all over when other surgeons have turned them away. He is at UIC.

If you would like his name...let me know and I will post the information. He had a full page in Chicago Magazine 'Top Docs'. Very impresssive background from what I recall.

All the best to you.
Take care

Nicole,
Just remember what's at the end of Nancy's posts - Never give in and never give up. You keep fighting and we'll be there with you. I will pray that you are able to get to Mayo - or where ever else you may find.

Don't stop looking for answers - not all doctors have them all.

Nicole,

I am sorry you didn't get the Christmas gift you wanted so badly. You keep fighting! this Dr. may not want to undertake this but their is one somewhere who will be willing to help. Hopefuly someone at Mayo. If not keep looking. I know that my surgeon, Dr. Hazim Safi, takes on many very high risk patients. His third surgery on my sister was a miracle. Before they did a TEE they had said that she was too weak to survive her surgery. They said her lungs were so damaged and full of fluid that she wouldn't have a chance. After the TEE they saw the extent of her Mitral valve failure due to scar tissue and they took her straight to surgery. She made it against all odds.

If things don't happen at Mayo, please contact him. He is Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

We are praying for you constantly,

Rick

Wow, Nicole, I'm sorry this is taking yet another left turn for you. It sounds like there is a plan taking shape to get you to Mayo. I'm confident they will figure out a plan of attack.

You are certainly one brave lady - my hat's off to you and I'm sending all my positive thoughts your way.

You are in my prayers. You have a hard row to hoe and have been doing it right along. You just hang in there and perhaps this dr will help you find some answers. Hard news to read this morning. Ann

Nicole, so glad to hear you won't give up. So many of life's successes have come after multiple failures. The Mayo Clinic does some wonderful things and are equipped to look at your health in a comprehensive manner. Hang in there - lots of prayers from all of us.

Paul

hang in there

hang in there

I was in the VERY same situation in 1969, it just so happened that a young Dr. was in the hospital to see if he wanted to work there. My surgery had been turned down by all the surgions. But one medical student. The student had me put under so he could get started by following a text book. Suddenly the Dr. who was looking at the hospital overheard of the case. He suddenly came into the or...taking over. He shuved the student to the side and pronounced to everyone "you do not have the skills but I do". and indeed he did! Nine and a half hours later my parents met him for the first time. Learning he was the number 2 cardiothorasic surgion in the world at the time. He has finally retired at the age of 82.

Nicole,

I am sorry to hear of your difficulties, but glad to know that you may be going to Mayo. It is a wonderful medical center. My dad and step-mother were both treated there.

God bless you.

I second the comment about the doc at University of Chicago. I live in Chicago, had mine done at Rush, but this young guy at U of C is THE guy to go to for the extremely difficult cases. He has a long name starting with a "J" I believe. Please go see him.
