I saw that earlier and thought the same thing.

Seems that professional sports teams would require some kind of tests to rule out undiagnosed cardiac problems (EKG, chest X-ray, echo). Those would help find some and spare some lives, or at least allow some to live a few years longer.

Saw it in the NFL pregame shows today. His home was not far from here. Yes, this is very sad.

I am an avid football fan, but I do wonder about the attention paid to long-term health of the players. The NFL has started playing closer attention to concussions lately, and that's good, but you have to wonder how many of these big guys get thorough checks for hidden cardiac problems.

I wonder what the tox screen will show. I'm wondering about steroid use. That isn't routinely tested for as far as I know. What scares me is that my heart is enlarged and I face the same fate everyday. If you don't think I don't have that on my mind all the time, as well as the other problems, you'd be mistaken.

Me too Ross, and while we are not playing football ,we are also not 26yo.

I have to wonder how extreme his heart damage was and how it was so
easily missed.

I get pretty wigged out every time I see someone just die like this. I have hypertrophy and i'm 26 too. Beta blockers reduce the risk of dying suddenly from it though.
