I'm 23 yearo, whose childhood has undergone in time of basic changes in Europe, after the cold war. I live in Bulgaria, an Eastern Europe - country, which was part of the Eastern block of komunistic reign till 1989. After the fall of Komunism, there was a significant collapse in the economics. Then, of course appeared the cruel face of the maffia, which members often were representatives, politicians and even ministers. Now - 17 years after all that trials my country become a part of the eurpean family. Finaly! On first of january, Bulgaria becomes a member of European Union. That means changes not only in the economical standarts, but also in a way of living for me and for all the bulgarians. After few days I can travel in all coutries of Europe like we are one country. No visas, no passports! And for the eupeans - cheap vacations in Bulgaria, wqhich is a touristic country with many beaches at the see and many winter courorts for skiing and climbing. I'm proud to be european and I'm waiting for the first day of the new year. :)

Happy New Year to you and congratulations on becoming part of the European union. May you enjoy all your new found freedom in the new year!:D

you have actually lived through things we only know about in our news reports from Europe. I am sure you must be so very happy to be as free as a bird to go where you want to go and when you want to go. Happy travels in 2007 and forward. Congratulations to you and your countrymen/women.

Welcome to Europe

Welcome to Europe

Yes it must be an exciting time for you and many Bulgarians,

We visited Romania in the 1980's and it was beautiful with nice beaches and really nice people. We still keep in touch with a family we met in 1980 although they now live in Canada

With the arrival of all the low-cost airlines it will give many Europeans the chance to travel to new places.

If you come to England you will find London really expensive ( we do )

Have a wonderful New Year

My daughter/hubby..adopted 2 beautiful children from Russia..2 years ago....Brother/sister from a small village near Finland......What a blessin ..that God found them for us.They are both beautiful/gifted children.....They are both healthy...thanks to the workers in their Orphange.:) ...We are still in touch with their doctor by e-mail..sending her the updated pictures of them...but, sadly, she says..that Russia is making it harder everyday for Americans to adopt Russian children....that they still do not trust Americans ..to adopt their children?..Yet, there are 700,000 children in Russia in Orphanages?..................Again, I thank God every night..for letting us get these 2 beautiful children home to us.:) .....my Hubby is from Sweden....Our Grandson looks like him..with his blue eyes and blonde hair..my Granddaughter looks like her Daddy..My S/I/law.with her dark hair.... I tease my s/i/law.are you sure you were not in Russia 4 years ago? :p ....Bonnie

Congratulations! You must be very excited. I visited the Czek Republic a few years after the revolution and it was a time of great changes and progress there. I've heard wonderful things about Bulgaria from several friends - I'd love to visit there some day!
