This interested me as I have a good friend whose daughter has a complex CHD is deteriorating and awaiting a heart transplant at the moment (has been for 2 months now).
Thought some of you might be interested to read about this too - its a new artificial heart, called the Berlin Heart, which can be used to keep children alive whilst they wait for transplant.

I know a couple kidswho have been on that , or probably will need it and waiting hopefully for the heart to start working post op, The one girl was 15 andgot it in August, even got to go home for months w/ it (it is pretty big and you have to push it around) she is 15 and finally got a heart a few weeks ago and just went home. When Justin wasat CHOp last May there were at least 2 kids that had itthatwe saw doing laps around the halls, one boy got his heart a few months later, but I never heard what happened to the girl. it really is amazing, Lyn
