Hello, all. My first post here. I'm very glad I found this forum. It's been recommended to me that I have my pulmonic valve replaced. When I was 22 months old, I had a surgery to correct pulmonic valve stenosis. Now, at 39 years old, I have regurgitation of the pulmonic valve. That is causing tricuspid valve regurgitation, which is causing my right atrium to enlarge. So I'll be a member of the "double zipper" club.

Has anyone else had this particular procedure? I've been trying to do some research, but most of the stuff I find has to do with the mitral valve, tricuspid valve, and/or aortic valve.

Does anyone have any information on this particular procedure? I'm supposed to go in on Feb. 18th for a Cardiac Catheterization procedure.

So I do have a few questions. My doctor has suggested I continue exercising, so I'm working with a "power yoga" style program. The doctor says that the healthier and more active I am going into the surgery, the quicker I will heal.

I don't have an actual schedule date for my procedure yet, but I'm wondering if anyone could shed some light on what goes on, and what the process is afterward and during recovery.

My doctor is telling me that I'll be in the hospital between 3 and 5 days.

The only things I'm really planning on taking with me are pajama pants, shirts, some slip-on shoes, boxers, and socks. That's really about it.

So I know everyone recovers at different rates, but I'm really looking for a "best guess".

My workplace has some short-term disability, and I have sick days/vacation days that I can burn. I won't be able to drive for a month, so I'll be staying at home.

My exercise afterward will be walking, and possibly Tai Chi, if the doctor says Tai Chi is OK. But eventually I would like to get back to doing my "power yoga" type thing, and possibly working in some cycling and light weightlifting. At one point last year, I started cycling about 3 miles a day, until it got too dark for me to do so.

Anyway, I've also been told that, because my heart will be pumping blood more efficiently, I will actually (eventually) see an energy increase from where I am now.

So does anyone have any advice/information?

Thanks in advance!
