Christine

hello everyone!.. september 4th will be my 3 month anniversary since my AVR. apparently a past infection hit my bicuspid aortic and without picking up on the signs i developed CHF with a little tacycarida (spelling??) anyway, had my 3 month echo and doc says my heart is now functioning 'with in normal ranges' and has started to ween me off some of the meds.. not completely healed, but on the way.. don't know if my littly palpatations will stay with me though, decreased my coreg and they came back, back up to my old dosage.. but hey, i'm ALIVE!!! i'm so glad for this site, i didn't know that much about my condition let alone a support group dedicated to 'valve jobs' (as my great boyfriend puts it) - idon't feel like i'm alone in this anymore.. my coumadin seems to be ok, adjustments here and there.. just ordered the home PT/INR test.. haven't rec'd it yet, but can't wait.. hate those labs.. i'm in better physical shape than i had been in years.. that's a great feeling.. i've also become the 'poster child' for seeing the doc sooner than later.. and now i know more about the heart and how it works than i thought i'd ever learn.. which is great..

talk more later..

Hi Christine-

So nice to have you here. You're already a veteran and can help us help others who are travelling down this road. You'll enjoy this nice group of people.

My husband is the patient here. He's been through lots and lots of surgery.

Hope to see you post often.

Hi Christine,

Welcome to our great on-line family! I am so glad you found us! This is a wonderful site with an enormous amount of info and the greatest support for anyone who needs it.
I see your surgery was 3 months ago.
I had two AVR surgeries in August of 2000. Second one was a screw-up by the cardiologist office. I did okay though!
I also home test and have been doing so for the past 18 months. I love it!
Protiming is kewl!
Well, hope you keep coming back.

Christina

Hi Christine and welcome aboard. I'm Evelyn, wife of Tyce who had AVR installed the end of June. We have been with this site since about 3 weeks prior to Tyce's surgery and are so very glad we've found it. It's the best around with the most caring and knowledgeable people. They'll answer any question you pose and will do it honestly and factually. They're a great support group and are getting bigger by the moment.

Again, welcome aboard and many good years of postings!

Evelyn

Welcome home,

I am pretty new here and you "belong" more since you have had the "valve job" or "been to the top of the mountain" as they say here.

But everyone here is just so helpful and kind enought to share their experience and knowledge with others, it is great. We are glad you found this "home"

Come often.

thanks

Welcome Christine

Welcome Christine

I know what you mean about being the "poster child" for going to the doctor sooner rather than later. I also developed CHF, and I just didn't make the connection that my bad heart valve was acting up. I went to the family doctor numerous times without receiving a correct diagnosis. Finally friends persuaded (compelled, forced, dragged) me to the emergency room. Now if someone I know is experiencing things that could be serious, I want to give them all kinds of advice about going to a "real" doctor, and that sort of thing.
Welcome to this fabulous site!

I will shortly celebrating my one year on September 13. You are in good hands here. We are here to help in any way possible. Just wanted to welcome you and stay as long as you want. We are all friends here. Hang in there.
