New St. Jude Medical valve approved today in Europe- the Trifecta GT

A new version of the St. Jude Trifecta was approved today in Europe. It appears to be the same valve, but with "Glide Technology". Appears to be easier to implant, and I understand what improved seating is, but can anyone explain what improved "parachuting" is???

I wonder if it's similar to the rapid deployment technique used during my surgery. The surgeon used a special device to place the valve, which then opened up. It's on the Edwards website if you want to look at a diagram (can't load links easily using my iPad). I spent less time on the heart-lung machine because of this delivery system.

Interesting about the Edwards valve, so maybe this GT version is just easier to install

Perhaps. Mine also required fewer sutures. It is supposed to be a bridge between traditional OHS and TAVR.
