Hi Guys,

I have another question: My cardiologist Did say that my pulmonary pressures were borderline high.....but again, he discounted that by saying that "Everybody has some leakage around the valves" and "I have some patients who walk around with double the amount of pulmonary pressures that you do." What is the pulmonary pressure and is it something that is serious?

Thanks for the help in advance. Harrybaby666 :D  :D

Oh this cat sounds like a real winner or is that weiner? Ask Nancy what Pulmonary Hypertension is. I think you get the picture. ;)

I think You had it right the 2nd time Ross...

I think "Weiner" is the right word for this person, Ross....I mean have you ever heard of your doc telling you that everyone has "some leakage" or that "some leakage is PERFECTLY NORMAL???!!! "   !!!!!

Harry

my husband has ph ... his mean pressures were 65 , thru a cath..I cant recall the rest, but pulmonary hypertension is nothing to sneeze at.
I would get documentation on pressures , then get a good pulminologist. Love Yaps

Hmmmmm..... where did you find this guy Harry??

I second Yaps. Get yourself to a pulmonologist (..one who specialises in PULMONARY HYPERTENSION..) for a second opinion. From my own research, PH is so often dismissed, or completely overlooked, and it's NOT something to be dicking around with!!!

Yes, it can be controlled with medication, and in some cases it can be "cured" if the primary cause is fixed (..such as a leaky valve..), but the longer it is left, the worse it gets.

I have to warn you though, you'll probably be fighting an uphill battle to have someone take you seriously on that one as well - and it seems cardiologists are one of the worst for it. I had an echo stating I had mild PH (..which has been described to me like having mild cancer(!)..), yet still no-one will give me the tests I need to either confirm the dx or rule it out.

By the way, if it DOES happen to be PH, then that could explain a lot of your symptoms - especially if the valve is still "OK".

Man, it sounds like you and I are waging the same wars!! What a shame we can't sign up as a tag-team and really get our point across.

All the best Harry. I'll be standing on the sidelines cheering for you.

Anna : )

It sounds to me that high Pulmonary Pressures *could* explain some of your symptoms Harry and perhaps that is the 'real' culprit here.

I was having a problem finding my 'proper' fluid level and sought a second opinion from another cardiologist. He took the time to explain that there is a delicate balance between BP in the Pulmonary heart chamber and the lungs. IF / WHEN your heart pulmonary pressures exceed your lung pressures, fluid buildup in the lungs can take place almost instantly  causing CHF type symptoms.
This might explain why you get so out of breath so quickly when climbing stairs... and maybe even why your cardio doesn't think it's a 'valve problem'.

I second Marty's advice about finding a good Internist to use as your PCP. Talking with a Pulmonologist sounds like a good idea also. Sounds like you will be seeing a lot of Doctors in the near future. :D I hope they can pinpoint the 'root cause' of your difficulties.

I dunno how I missed this one.!!!

I dunno how I missed this one.!!!

Hi Al,

Just wanted to say thanks, and I am sorry I didn't see this post until now...I am usually on top of things...but not this week. I am not worried about another doctor to my list because I already see:

1. My PCP
2. My Endrocrinologist (For Diabetes and Chronic Pancreatitis)
3. My Cardiologist
4. My Nephrologist
5. My Pulmonologist
6. My Pain Care Doctor

Is this just too much or what?? LOL I have a new nickname for myself: ONE SICK *******... lol :D :D   :D :D Shine On Syd is helping me to get things into play and I am eternally grateful for all the VR.com peoples help!!!! Thanks....Harrybaby666

You're just a big attention seeker, aren'tcha Harry..?!! :D

A : )

Wellll....I Dunno...

Wellll....I Dunno...

Hi Anna,

I dunno about attention getting....but I can tell you how sick of all the appointments I have to keep track of, and it is really frustrating to go and see these people when I am in as much pain as I am right at this moment...It's so bad that I have to start asking for a wheelchair when I go into a department store or to one of my brother's doctors appointments...Those Hallways are KILLERS....You must know how it is to be sick of being sick...As for the attention part....The last time I got any attention to really speak of was the day I was released from the hospital after my kidney surgery....when I stood up out of the wheelchair to get into the car, I passed out right then and there and fell to the ground...NOW THAT'S ATTENTION...LOL :D :p :D Hope your getting your attention needs met...LOL :D :D :D Harrybaby666

Actually, Harry, I think the comment about leakage is probably more accurate than we might like to think. I have heard it, too. I suspect that at some given points everyone has a little valve leakage going on in one valve or another. For most of us, echoes show "trace" regurgitation on an unexpected valve one time, and none the next.

Heck, it's muscle (albeit amazing muscle), not a swiss watch.

Best wishes,

Just wanted to say we are all pulling for you Harry. I understand your level of frustration. Had many of things just fall apart in the year proceeding surgery. Seemed I spent my entire waking hours visiting one doctor, another, hospital, etc. Leaving my 2 year old and husband behind. Then my husband suddenly came down with Kidney cancer. Our life seems to be a constant battle.

Today, almost 6 years later I get along fine most of the time. Called to make my appointment for my yearly in January. Just an exam this time. They tell me I am on the 2 year plan for echos! Hang in there!
