Hello all,

I recently mentioned in another thread that I got a new puppy for Valentine's Day. Just wanted to post his picture so all of you can see how adorable he is. This is my first attempt at adding pictures hopefully it will work

Mommy's boy

Mommy's boy

He is already a mommy's boy!! He loves to sit beside me on the couch. He curls up in a little ball and goes to sleep. He plays with the other dogs, too. We have a lab/shepard mix named Stormy and a cocker/terrier ( which looks like a larger longer dachshund more than anything so maybe we were told wrong) named Gabe. They all get along pretty well. Our middle dog, Gabe sometimes gets jealous of Manny. Gabe is also a Mommy's boy and likes to lay beside me on the couch. Manny always tries to play if they are both on the couch at the same time and Gabe doesn't like it. OH well, Just like my kids they will have to learn to get along!

Here's a picture of Milady, our red, smooth-coated, short-haired miniature Dachshund. She's one and a half years old.

Milady's indeed a lovely dog, but has a terrible temper and if given a chance, she'll bite anyone who crosses her path. I'm the only one who can get near her bowl of food or touch her bone, but even so, I try to be careful since she's already proved to be the kind of dog that can easily turn on you. Anyway, I'm still nuts about her and wouldn't give her up! You have a lovely dachshund too and he looks so cuddly! How old is he, by the way? Milady was one year old when that photo was taken, and believe it or not, my seven year old daughter got me to buy in a cake for her first birthday! LOL!! I'll try and post another couple of pics of her tomorow.

What a cutie? If not for our two cats I would have went cazy between the stroke and second OHS. The one cat knew I was sick and having the stroke she wouldn't leave till my husband made it home. Whan he finally came home the oldest vat was sitting on my chest she had sensed something was wrong

I have to agree with everyone, what cute dachsunds! I also agree that pets are great for stress. Have you noticed that your animals know when you're feeling down or don't feel well. If I could be as perceptive as they are, I'd be a more compassionate person. We have three yorkies, a bichon frise, and a cat. Our cat is our first ever, and she is the most wonderful creature. I had no idea how affectionate and fun a cat could be. Congrats on the new puppy!! Wise

Both are beautiful! I hope everyone had a chance to tune into the Westminster Kennel Club dog show the last two nights. :)

Bryan: I love your standard poodle. I want one so bad. With all the animals I have now, and a guide dog in the works, I don't think that will happen anytime soon. We always watch the Westerminster Kennel Club dog show. I'm like David Frye (however that's spelled), I end up liking all of the dogs. The German Short-haired Pointer was very deserving, I thought. I was pulling for the Norfolk Terrier, but I'm biased toward terriers (or terrors, i should say). I was a good show this year.

Wise,

I love 'em all too. I have to admit though, of all the dogs I have owned Abby (the formentioned poodle) has a place in my heart that no other dog has touched. She is so intelligent, affectionate, playful, humorous, gentle...I could go on and on. My sister gave me Abby as a surprise Christmas present a little over 7 years ago...she owns Abby's sister as well as an older black standard who's father won the Westminster Best in Show. They planned on breeding her, but she ended up having some reproductive problems that prevented her from having puppys. She is 12 now and showing her age, but she still has an "elegance" about her that the other 2 have never shown. In other words you can tell she came from a special bloodline. LOL, now you got me going. I just love animals...I also had a cat that dropped out of a tree in our yard as a kitten and decided to "hang around" for 18 years. I still miss her too, she was my buddy. Well I better stop...I'm making myself sad...lol.

Take care! :)

Awwwwwww...... =)

Puppies are pretty cute. I'm not a big dog person but there are a few breeds that I like.

Had a friend who used to have a GORGEOUS chocolate lab. She was a real sweety when she was in a good mood. Unfortunately she could be high strung at times and would get downright nasty if you set her off the wrong way.

Neighbors down the street used to have a BIG doberman. He was really sweet though, and a bit shy too. Loved skunks which drove his owners nuts because he was always finding their dens...

I've just got the two cats (they're actually my wife's but they've adopted me well)

I like some dogs, jsut don't think I'd like to care for one all the time. I'm actually partial to rottweilers of all things, labs are nice too.... Usually dogs are pretty good for me. I've known two K9 dogs, one with the local sheriff's department and the other a local police department. Their handlers have told me to be careful because they are trained not to take kindly to strangers, but they warm up to me rather fast which isn't the norm...

I think the main reason I would want a dog is because I don't want to have to walk it in the wintertime (or the rain, I've done both before) and I'm not too keen on the smell....

But most dogs can be damn cute. =)

Bryan: Abby sounds like a very special dog. If you love dogs, they're all special in their own way, aren't they? I am in the same boat with you, as far being able to ramble on about dogs. I am getting awfully fond of Jet, our cat, though. She's much easier to care for, but that's not why I'm fond of her. She is a "lover" as our vet's wife says. She is just too sweet, which is perrrfect for us.

Harpoon: I also like the labs. They are eternal puppies. Never been around dobies much, but I sure enjoy them when they show at Westminster. My brother-in-law has had, I think, four guide dogs. They have all been black labs. His current is Onyx, who is 10 years old. My wife's two guide dogs were Della, a german shepherd, and Duffy, a golden retriever. She is partial to those two breeds. I love them all.
