Hi Estrella and welcome to Vr.com

It is hard for any of us to tell you what you should do without getting into your personal information. Without knowing the circumstances your living in, it's almost impossible to say.

I've moved your thread to here in heart talk, so that others may be better able to help you then I can. Give it sometime, perhaps some of the late night people or early morning people will have ideas.

Again, welcome to the forums. :)

Estrella - Just thought I would welcome you to the site. I really don't have any good ideas to help with your problem, but at least understand. Your mother is having problems getting insurance, since she has several health problems. I hope someone has an answer, but not me. Sorry.

Hello Estrella,

Welcome to VR.com. From your post I understand that your mother is new to this country, and I think it'll be really hard to get insurance for her because of her condition. For the rest you'll have to wait until someone else comes around who can tell you more about insurance issues.
Yes, vitamin K does interfere with Coumadin/Warfarin but so do a bunch of other things. (www.warfarin.com) A person shouldn't avoid eating the healthy greens a body needs to survive. A good doctor should know how to adjust the Coumadin according to your mother's eating habbits and not the other way around.
Drinking green tea is fine as long as she doesn't eat the leaves.
Be careful she gets tested often because you can't fool around with Coumadin/Warfarin. (Warfarin is the generic name)

Wishing you the best.

Welcome Estrella...It sounds like your Mother is going to run into a problem obtaining insurance. I was lucky in the fact that I contacted an insurance company and they had a plan (very expensive) that was a state mandated program that had to accept you whether you had heart problems or such. It was very costly but worth it because I had to have my first open heart surgery just 2 months after the insurance started and they paid great. There was no pre existing clause since it was state mandated. I live in North Carolina. Ask an insurance agent about it. Its was directed towards self employed people and I was out of a job at the time since my employer had retired from practicing medicine.

The Coumadin issue is a serious matter and you can benefit from reading material on it. I have had a problem managing my Coumadin but I think I have it under contol finally.

Good luck to you and your family. Feel free to e mail me at
[email protected]

Hi Estrella,

I understand what your mother is going through. I myself am having a hard time getting insurance. One thing to remember is that many hospitals have programs that help those of us w/o insurance, and they will work with us. I wish I had some website links that would help you in your search.

Best of luck,
Lora

Welcome

Welcome

Estrella,
Welcome to this site. I myself am new to the site, but have learned SOOOO much from these wonderful people. I am no expert, but you might check around with different Insurance Consultants. They might be able to tell you of insurance companies that can help. We use one in our office to help us filter through all the different plans to come up with insurance for the city employees. They may know how to help you. ;) . I sure hope so. Is your mother planning on becoming a citizen of the U.S.? If so they may open something up to her. :) Keep your chin up and I will keep yall all in my prayers. Keep in touch with this site as often as you can. They give support, information and most of all encouragement to us ALL! God Bless.
