Hi there ... I've had a history of heart problems since childhood and I'm having symptoms that are being evaluated at the moment for tachycardia, HR has been upto 200 bpm and I have felt short of breath, extreme fatigue and irregular heart rhythm. I've had a history of dysrhythmias, and mitral regurgitation and I am scheduled to see my Cardiologist Sept. 30th. A pacemaker was implanted in 2003 and I have had frequent checkups, during my last visit it was discovered that my heart rate was up to 200 bpm and that my cardio. may be prescribing another medication. i'm hoping to have another echo. to see how my mitral valve is functioning.

I look forward to sharing experiences with you and hope i can also be of support in the future.

Angie

Welcome Angie!

Welcome Angie!

Welcome aboard Angie! I have only been a member for a couple of days now, but these folks make you feel right at home. Hope things go well for you...............

Welcome aboard Angie,

Weekends are usually slow here so others will be on later to welcome you to VR.COM. Maybe most of them use their OFFICE COMPUTERS to post here. HUUUM!!!!! :D :D :D

Anyway, I had most of the symptoms you outline before my Mitral valve went South. Hopefully they will either reassure you that things are still OK or they will take action to "fix" things. Most of us here suggest "not waiting" if things are getting bad. You may want to call your Cardio and let them know what you are experiencing and maybe they will move up the Echo and other tests. "The worse it gets, the faster it gets worse" is the title of our song here. Cardios have a habit of "wait and see" and surgeons want to get in there NOW to avoid further damage. You've found a great site and ask away. We'll be here.

May God Bless,

Danny

Welcome Angie. Do you mind if I ask your general age? When was your last echo and how serious was your regurg? (trace, mild, moderate, severe) I had my mitral valve replaced almost 14 years ago at the age of 32. Prior to that I had lots of rhythm disturbance - almost continually. Since my surgery, I have very little. At the time I was told that the replacement most likely would not correct the arrhythmia, but it did.

How is it you became Benny Hill's nurse?

Yes, please elaborate on this for us.

Well....he died in 1992...and her profile says she's a nursing student...and I loved Benny Hill...and...well, okay...I suppose "Bennyhill", in the context of her moniker could refer to...oh, say a geographic location...but I loved Benny Hill...! :D

Welcome aboard Angie! We're a real friendly bunch around here and real good listeners. We've all had a great many experiences and draw on one another for support and answers to questions. I had my mitral valve replaced 24 years ago. Let your cardiologist know exactly what's going on and ask a lot of questions. There are several things they can do for cardiac irregularities...from medication, ablations and so on. Again, WELCOME! We look forward to getting to know you. Linda

[/I] Benny Hill...! :D

I loved Benny Hill, too! I remember watching it every night! I remember how suprised I was to learn that my Grandparents watched Benny Hill. They were so religious I thought Benny Hill would be to racy for them :D But at the same time I thought it made them very cool. :D

Thank you all very much for making me feel so welcome!

For those that are curious, [email protected] is my email address, it came about because I'm a nursing student and was born in Birmingham, England (north of London). Don't know why, the name just came to mind when i needed an email address! I moved to California when i was 20 and seeking new adventures, I love to travel and decided that it was a good time in my life to see other parts of the world. I've been here for the past 15 years. I'm 35 and have had some heart troubles since childhood, but nothing serious until i was in my early 30's and ironically i was enrolled in second sememster of nursing school. I had to leave the nursing program due to ill health and in 2003 I had a pacemaker implanted for bradydysrhythmias and sick sinus syndrome. My heart rate was dropping in the 20's. Since the implant i did really well, until recently. As mentioned above, I have started feeling very fatigued, breathless and feel the irregularities with my heart rate. My last ekg was abnormal and my HR was around the 200's. My mitral valve is regurgitaing but it was only minor according to my last echo a year ago. I'm not sure what the cause of my symptoms are at the moment and hope to get some answers when i visit with my cardiologist Sept. 30th. Like some of you mentioned, perhaps its a good idea to try and move the appt. forward. I'll call tomorrow morning and will see if they can get me in sooner. Feeling so short of breath is what concerns me most. I'm very active and typically in good health. I feel great some days and others i can barely keep up.

Thank you for having me on board, it sure sounds like there are some wonderful people here. Your support is greatly appreciated. I'm sure you are from all over the globe, CA is my home now, but i love to go back to England for visits. Hi to Emma (from my homeland), And, Georgia no i haven't seen little Britain yet, but will keep watching out for it. I look forward to getting to know you ALL better, as time goes on! Thanks again everyone.
