Hello everyone. I had a mitral valve repair January 31 of this year but I didn't find this place until late spring. I thought since my surgery had already been done, no one would really be interested. Well after viewing the many posts I changed my mind and decided to join the club!

We need people who have had surgery and experience, they are a big insperation to those of us who still have to get threw it. Welcome :)

Welcome to the forum. We weren't lucky enough to find this wonderful place until after Dick's surgery either, but you will find that you will still have so much to offer (experience) and so much to learn. I know you will enjoy your time spent here.

Same for me. I didn't find this site until after my husbands AVR. But, I still find it very useful and hope I can help someone else with our experiences. Plus, these are a great bunch of people to know.

I did not find this forum until 10 years after my third OHS. However, the stories and people just drew me in and I am now addicted.

There are a number of ongoing issues with valve replacements so this is not just about getting through the surgery as you have realized.

Welcome and I hope you are around for a long time.

Welcome! I didn't fine this site until 12 years after my mitral replacement. There can be ongoing issues, but for me, the most important aspect of this site is that I can come on any time of the day or night and commune with those who know exactly what I've been through and have the same hopes (and fears) of the future. Our valves are the ties that bind us - whether they are repaired, replaced, yet to be repaired or replaced or in the bodies of those we love.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm pressed for time right now but later I will be thrilled to share my story, and give details of the surgery and recovery, which went perfect for me. :)

Welcome! I too didn't find this site until almost 24 years after my second OHS and I can tell you that in the last few months I've learned a lot and met a lot of nice, caring people. We look forward to hearing your story and learning from you! Linda

hi jrocco,
welcome to this wonderful place.
i was one of the very fortunate ones who found this site before my husband's surgery.
although i haven't been around much these past few months, i return hoping that i may someday hold someone's hand through their endeavors as others here did for me.
glad to have you among us.

Welcome! I still consider myself to be new also...and I didn't find it until after my surgery too. There is a veritable worldbook of knowledge here. So kick back and enjoy reading and posting....

If we only had members who came 'before' and then left, we'd not even be here. It's the after ones who keep it going. You are needed here. All input is important to those who are coming along. We get luck, mostly, when many stick around for the after party.
