Hey, Justin,
From another older kid (with grey hair. . .) and car guy, the first car you choose for yourself is always your favorite. I still remember the first car that was "mine" and not the family's second car. I kept that one (a 1965 Chevy Corvair) for over 20 years. I raced it in autocross, ran road rallies, took it to the drag strip -- even convinced my dad to drive it cross country to me when I was in Army training in Oklahoma. In short, that car and I were partners for much of my life and for 156,000 miles. I still have the title, VIN plate and shift knob as souvenirs. First cars are special, so enjoy!
On a more down-to-earth note, isn't that RX-7 a rotary? If so, when you choose another engine be very careful that the rotor tip seals are in good shape. Those little wonder motors were known for fast wearing rotor tip seals that would allow immense oil consumption and power loss. When they were in good shape, WOW! Lots of power, little weight. (A little bit thirsty, though. . . )
Luck of the wrench be with you!
