Does anyone know of any additional problems that the board is experiencing besides the reply with quote and smilies per post not working properly? I'm trying to create a list of things that need fixed and would like to know if these are the only things noticed or if there is more.

Haven't checked the Guest Book lately, but it would be helpful to put some permanent message of welcome and direction to the forum areas, with instructions on how to get there.

Also in the Search section, it won't take words of less than 4 letters (I think). Sometimes it's necessary to search for 3 letter words.

Is there a way to do a combined search for a word or phrase AND a member name?

I'll have to check with Hank about the guest page and lowering the search number to 3. Lowering the number will create a larger database and I'm not sure what all the server can handle, but I agree on lowering to 3. I've had a couple of instances now that I had to search thread by thread because of the minimum being 4.

The answer to combined searching is no. We can only do one or the other, but not both. That may be something to bring up to the Jelsoft/vBulletin people. They might be able to do something about that in future updates.

Maybe it's because I"m a computer dummy, but I would love to be able to go to the chat room and be able to get in there.....do we really need lots of channels? Could it be easier for us dummies out there to get into the chat room?

Ev

The chat room is something entirely different that we really have no control over. All I can tell you to do is to once you've logged in and changed your name, click on finger and find out what channel everyone is on and then go to that channel. Read the help menu for methods of changing channels, booting people off, etc.

Sorry, but that's not one we have much say about.

Ross, I tried to use the quote in one of my recent postings and it came out weird. It didn't look like yours. If I could remember what I was talking about I could direct you to it, but hey, you know what my memory is like these days. lol

As far as the guest book, I have never been there. There is a guest book? Gee, I should wander out of the forum's screen every once in a while and take a peek.

Hey Ross,
As soon as I figure out how to do all this stuff, I will let you know if something is wrong. :D You know me and computers!

Ross,

It is most likely that I am doing something wrong but many times when I get on the board and am checking "view new posts", if I view some of them and even when I haven't checked " mark all forums read", I still lose my list. I end up having to go back through my computer history to catch the rest.

For the most part I find the site very very user friendly as I am not the best with computers and find it easy to use.

Ross,

I haven't run into any problems. I did run into the 4 letter search minimum when trying to look up 'ATS', but understand this is by design.

"View New Posts"

"View New Posts"

If you log out of the forum (or are timed out), then all posts are automatically marked as read. Personally I hate this feature and am trying to have it remedied. I know I often don't have time to read everything in one sitting and would like to come back later to finish up.

The problem with makeing it so it doesn't time us out is that this leaves a lot of loopholes open for internet scum to get passed the login security routines.

If I don't have time to read all of the current posts, I save them to my favorites, then go back when I have the time. I can delete the list when I'm finished.
