Hello Everyone,

Don?t mean to pester everyone with my issues, would just like to get a better idea of where I stand and what I can expect from here forward.

Should I be optimistic or pessimistic with these findings? What do they mean by ruling out a shunt? How concerned should I be about the mod TVR and the mild PH? Being Asthmatic since childhood (always take ventolin before running), should I assume I?ve had mild PH since then or can I expect it to become progressively worse rather quickly? Will these results restrict me from high aerobic exercising? How concerned should I be about the Dilated RV? What does E, A and E/A mean? What does #6 mean? Does Dilated RV= RVH? What should be my main concerns with these results?

Cardiac dimensions

RV=33mm (normal<30)
Aorta=36 (normal<37)
L-Atrium=37 (normal<40)
L-Ventricle ED=51 (normal 35-57)
L-Ventricle ES=37 (normal 20-40)
Septum=10 (normal<11)
Posterior wall=9 (normal<11)

- EF=60%+
- E=65
- A=56
- E/A=1.16

1. LV ? Normal size and function
2. Dilated RV with minimal hypokinesis. RV 33mm on pasarternal short axis view as well as 46mm on the 4-chamber view at the tricuspid annulus.
3. Trivial-mild MVR
4. Moderate TVR
5. Trivial PVR
6. Mild PH with an RVSP 36mmHg if right atrial pressure =10mmHg.
7. Thickened anterior MV leaflet.

Summary

Suggest TEE to rule out a shunt in an otherwise young healthy man.

P.S. Originally thought I had Mod PVR, now that I have the Echo results I realize its TVR. Oops!!! Neophyte mistake of assuming.

Thanks
Alex

Well Alex.....

Well Alex.....

I also have had lung problems (COPD) Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Constant Upper Respiratory Infections and Viral Infections since birth, and I only found out about my PH this past August. My PH number is 43 which is considered mild for most people. Right Ventrical Hypertrophy goes along with the PH. This I have been told about by my doctor and by visiting the website: Http://wwwphassociation.org. You can find all kinds of Pulmonary Hypertension Information there. I was pointed to this website by another VR.com member (Thanks Nancy) who is really on the up and up about PH.

As for the valves....The doctor's will probably keep a close eye on the tricuspid valve and tell you not to worry about the other valves...mine are leaking as well, and my Mitral Valve has gone from trivial to mild....and my doc has told me not to worry about it...I hope that this has helped you in some small way....I have only told you things that I have been told to me by my own doctors....Take Care, Stay Well....Harrybaby666 :D :cool: :D :cool:

Alex, the only thing that comes to mind -is maybe the "shunt "he is talking about is to rule out is atrial septal defect which is a common defect when the hole between the two atrium doesn't close at birth. Everything else doesn't sound bad- just watch the TVR. Others can give you more infor about PH
