Pretty much my Drs here have been giving me the run around, not returning calls or even allowing appts, when I get better guess which people will be praying that they never just left me.
What iam asking from you all is if thier is any way that you can find any information for me on how to get to mayo clinic, if there are any programs available to transport a sick patient and is thier a place where you can stay while being treated there.

Hi Nicole,
Sorry your not doing well. Do you have family that are with you?
Here in Minnesota the Mayo is about 1.5 hours by car from Mpls. You have 2 choices if you can not get a referal from your end then the only way to get to Mayo is fly here to Mpls. then drive to Rochester and go directly to St. Mary's hopspital at the Mayo they have several hospital's that are at Mayo ,but this is the only one that you can actually get into without a referal. They will triage you to the appropriate place, if you are as sick as you say I hope you would be able to make the flight,if so you would most likely be a direct admit from triage. Dr Hartel Schaff is the Director of Cardiovascular Service ,he is also world renowned , his number is 507-255-7068. HFK

As far as Mayo and how they operate. You need to get someone to let you make some phone calls to Mayo and see what can be done. I'm sure your Doctors would have to submit what records they have in order for them to determine if they can help.

Nicole,

This is the link for the Mayo Clinic page. It tells how to call and says that you can go to the clinic without an apoointment, but may have to wait.

I am somewhat familiar with the clinic. My dad lived close by and was treated there. There are flights to Rochester, although they are not direct. I always had to transfer to another flight in St. Louis or Minneapolis. There are limos and cabs available to get to the clinic. There are several hotels within walking distance to the clinic. It's a small city so stores and restaurants are easily accessible, as well.

My family doctor did NOT think it was necessary for me to go to the Cleveland Clinic, but I did not need a refferal from him. You are entitled to a copy of your records to take with you. I only needed records relating to the heart.

Here is the info from the Mayo site:

You may make an appointment at Mayo Clinic in several ways:

Make direct arrangements with your Mayo doctor if you are already a Mayo patient.

Ask your local doctor to refer you and arrange your appointment

Coming to Mayo Without an Appointment
If you come without an appointment, we will try to begin your exam as quickly as possible. You may wait a few days, a week or longer depending on the number of patients already here. If you are very ill, ask to be seen immediately. A Mayo doctor will talk with you to evaluate the severity of your illness. This doctor's recommendation will determine how soon you will be scheduled for an appointment. The doctor also will determine the appropriate area of the clinic for your initial appointments. The patient service representative in that area will give you an approximate waiting time and explain the waiting policy.
