This week I have been sick with what I thought was the stomach flu. The first half of the week, Mon-Wed., I had vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, no appetite. Then Thurs and today I am hungry but after 2 bites of food I feel sick with nausea again. Before eating, I feel fine, but hungry. No more vomiting and diarrhea since Tuesday. Called dr. They did labs, all within normal limits, no infections, lipase and amylase normal. They dont know what it could be nor do I .

Has anyone had these kinds of nausea problems? My OHS was Oct 22. I feel as if I have backslid. This week alone I have lost almost 10 lbs.

The problem is also, what to eat? I have tried the bland diet road, but even dry toast and 7 up makes me feel nauseated. Something of interest is I have been craving milk, so have been drinking a lot of that.

I am getting really sick of being sick!! :(

10 lbs in a week is a lot to lose. Perhaps you should call your doctor again and ask about getting some anti-nausea medications. It would at least allow you to nourish yourself and hopefully break the bad cycle of nausea.

Also maybe some of the medications you are presently taking might be causing the nausea.

Thanks Nancy. I did think maybe it could be meds. But I am off all meds they put me on in the hospital, including any and all pain meds.

That is a wonderful idea about the anti nausea meds. I will call them back! Thanks!

If you want to try a "non-med" first, try sipping little bits of mostly de-fizzed Coke, Pepsi, or Dr Pepper. They all contain phosphoric acid which has been used for years to calm nausea.

I was given Zantac for a nausea - you could try that and you could also try drinking/sipping on PowerAide with water, 1/2 and 1/2. Do not use GaterAide. My S/O doctor recommended this mixture when one has vomiting, diarrhea & nausea.

Have you tried to nibble on soda crackers?

Make sure when they did your labs that they checked the pancreatic enzyme levels. That is what was driving my nausea. It did correct itself, but it was a pain. My surgery was October 15. The other thing they asked was if I had any history of gall stones in the family.

I ate bland oatmeal (no sweetener), milk, water, pretty much anything that wasn't sweet. I'm still not liking sweets, but my waist is appreciating that. I'm down 22 lbs from my pre-surgery weight. I've managed to level out though. I'm not looking to gain any back if I can help it. Could probably stand to drop another 10 - 15, but I'd rather do it healthy than the way I did the first 20 plus.

After saying all that, diarrhea and vomiting sounds like the flu to me.

You need to get your INR checked too. You'll likely be way out of range. Sickness like this will mess with yout INR.

Hi everyone. Today finally I feel pretty good. The nausea, vomiting and diarrhea is gone for the most part, a little nausea occasionally. But I am surely much better. I overdid it on Sat. which was my birthday but rested Sunday and today I woke up feeling hopeful that this wk will be good.

I'm glad you're feeling better! I was going to add that since you're in Ohio, you have access to my favorite beverage to fight nausea: Vernors ginger ale. :)

I have been having a lot of Vernors River-wear! LOL I am still fighting this nausea, it is not as bad as it was, but my appetite is horrible. I cant seem to eat hardly anything, two bites of food each meal.
I am craving milk, so drinking that up.. i am not sure what else to do. i had labs, they were all normal.
my inr was 3.6 yesterday, a little higher than they want me to have.

just wish i could say i am 80 percent but sadly not.
