Hi Hensy...

Hi Hensy...

Hensy,
I just wanted to let you know that I posted to her the other night, and when she replied that she said that she only has one more treatment to go and that she and her hubby were doing well all things considered. I just wanted to let you know in case she didn't see the post for some reason.....Harrybaby :D :D :D

Yup, Harry's right-

One more treatment to go on Tuesday. Getting chemo over with will be a HUGE relief. Radiation will follow for six weeks every day, after a brief rest and then that's it for invasive type of stuff. Radiation, I hope, will be easier than chemo.

I'm doing OK. Had a few problems with the last two chemos, mostly phlebitis and cellulitis in the chemo arm, and very low blood counts. My arm looks like a tractor trailer ran over it again and again, lots of superficial clots and sore areas. I have one "good" vein left for the last chemo, that's about it. Can't use the other arm because of the lymph node removal. But, I've been assured that most things will heal up in time. And I'm getting shots for the blood counts.

Joe's doing well and has been a big help to me. Mostly he's very understanding. He's been through so much himself. He knows how many things feel.

I've been trying to read most things and post a little here and there.

I'm glad to hear you are hanging in there. I have had so many friends go through the same type of chemo you are on and each one was very relieved to have it behind her. Each one of them also said radiation affected their daily lives much less than chemo. I hope the same is true for you. You have still managed to be so helpful on this board even during this time. WE are all pulling for you.

Hi Nancy

Hi Nancy

I think of you often....You are so strong to go thru this..yet, take time to pop in and help Newbies on Vr.Com...Hey, Girlfriend..You have to be ready for that pink (or Purple) snowsuit....and be ready to blow the snow off your driveway. :D :D Also..to post those snow pictures in New York...I still have to laugh at the one you posted of your poor gas grill...I think..when the snow came off your roof and demolished it. :p ......So many members come and post on VR. pre-surgery..and we never hear from them again. They don't know what they are missing. :D Hope only the best for you..And Joe..Bonnie

Betty is so right. We are all pulling for you, and hoping things will hurt less and work better for you than they have for anyone else before.

One more time into the breech, then home.

I hope the radiation is less of a trial than the chemo for you.

Best wishes,

I missed all of these posts about your illness so it was a surprise to see this.
I am behind but will catch up. I wish you the very best and hope things go well for you and that the radiation is better. Warm thoughts to you, Nancy.

You're a strong lady!

You're a strong lady!

Hi Nancy, just a couple of lines to tell you that I'll be praying for you so that this is all behind you soon. You're such a brave woman and you have become such an important and dear person to all of us here! Good luck on Tuesday and the days that follow. Take care!

Sounds a bit like me ;).

*grins*

But, seriously, I've missed seeing you post, Nancy. Thus, it is good to see you post here :).

And, of course, I'm glad to know that you and Joe are doing OK! Good luck on Tuesday with your last chemo treatment...and, of course, good luck with the following radiation.

Nancy, thank you for updating us. I know you will be glad to get the chemo finished. We have all heard that it can be pretty unpleasant.

My dear Joe had radiation and he had one REALLY big complaint that he would want me to tell you about to prepare you - but you probably already know it. We went to the hospital where they took him away to some room, without me. When we got home, he went for his shower and came out of the bathroom so mad and his Irish temper was flaring. He had not seen at the hospital the pen marks they use as a map for treatments. He was so offended they didn't tell him what to expect. He then was totally angry for women (the vain creatures that he thought we all are). He angrily told the doctors they should tell their patients, especially women, that they have a road map on their body and that it will go away eventually.

Thank you for telling us how you are progressing. You are a strong lady, as all of us know, and are the mother of VR that everyone looks to for no-nonsense knowledge, information and support. What a trouper you are, Nancy. We know that you are hangin tough, taking care of business as usual, and one day will be the blooming lovely flower you always have been. When you feel like it you will post again like you always have and be johnny-on-the spot with your answers to questions, but take your time to heal. You, of course, know that the group that always supported our heart buddies, is now supporting and praying for your complete well-being. Love, Ann

I am laughing about the radiation road map. :p On many of the breast cancer sites, women have mentioned that their lovely lingerie was permanently ruined by the marking pens that were used, that somehow rubbed off on the clothing. So they have warned us all to wear old stuff for the initial mapping.

And then, there are the tattoos that are used for permanent marking, and stay with you forever.

There isn't much that is dignified or even glamorous about either chemo or radiation. For heaven's sake, you cannot even use antiperspirant during the radiation phase which lasts for 6 weeks. Good thing the weather is much cooler here.

But like everyone here, going through the fire is all in an effort to try to get the very best result.

So, we forge ahead, allow our bodies to heal and hope for the best.

Hi Nancy

So good to hear from you!!!! I do think of you often and put you in my prayers with everyone else here.....I know you'll be glad to get chemo over with. My girlfriend had radiation and said it just made her tired......may you have lots of pleasant naps.

In our thoughts and prayers.

Good luck

Good luck

Nancy,

I always read your kind and incredibly informative posts. I have missed seeing you around and I'm glad that you checked in. I'm sorry this journey of yours cannot be more comfortable, but you seem to be handling it with the same grace that we hear you giving to others in your posts.

You two are the dynamic duo!! Wishing you simpler times.

Marguerite

Glad your treatments are winding up Nancy. You and poor Joe sure have had more than your fair share of procedures! :( You aren't trying to compete with eachother are you....?!! ;)

I'll keep sending positive thoughts and best wishes your way....

Anna : )

Hi Nancy!

Hi Nancy!

I echo Anna's thoughts... you and Joe sure have had your share of procedures. I'm praying that some well-deserved time off from ill health is in your future.
You're such a blessing to this site.
love Yolanda (Chris' wife)

Hi Nancy! As I have mentioned before, radiation, for me, was nothing more than driving the 15 miles or so to the center, getting undressed for 5 minutes, getting dressed again and driving home. No pain, discomfort, side effects at all. As for the tatoos, mine are just 3 or 4 dots that don't look much different than my various moles and freckles (except that they're blue). My aunt who had the same thing thing 4 years earlier said hers are beginning to fade now.

I'm glad your chemo is about over and I believe you'll think the next phase is a picnic!
