Nan-

Sorry to post here - do you take a multi vitamin at all with your other med for the RLS/PLMD??
Do you know of any reputable sites that list meds used in RLS/PLMD?? - To research for my Pulmonologist.

Thanks!

Erica

Hi Erica.
While I do not know what all your alphabet soup letters mean, I can tell you that I take a multivitamin with my digoxin, lasix, aspirin and beta blocker. Does that help? I have Tetrology of Fallot and just had a new pulmonary valve, artial septal patch and maze procedure done and all my MDs know about the multivitamin in my medication menu!

Hi Karen,

Sorry for the alphabet soup RLS is aka restless leg syndrome and PLMD is aka Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. Yes, and thank you for your help! Glad I am not the only taking mlti vit! Is your also with Iron??
Erica

Hi Erica,

Go to < www.rlshelp.org > and go to the RLS/PLMD medical treatment page...there is a wealth of information there. Basically the medications are in three major classifications, Benzodiazepines, Dopaminergic drugs and Analgesics. There are also hypertensive drugs and antidepressant drugs that have been used successfully for some folks.

I do take multivitamins with extra B complex and Magnesium, supposed to be helpful for RLS/PLMD as well as cardiac issues.

How are you doing?

Hi Erica,
forgot to mention that I take iron sporadically also...when it doesn't upset my digestive system too much. There is a very definite link with iron in RLS/PLMD, but it isn't necessarily how much iron you take or if you are anemic (although that can influence also) but rather how your brain is using the iron that you have...there seems to be some problem there... a lot of research going on at the moment about that.
